Default Is a turbo or supercharger right for me?

So, I have a 08 Focus sedan that i just bought a couple of weeks ago. Has 1k miles on it.

I'm thinking about getting a turbo system or supercharger in it.

I like in alaska, so its cold here. car sits outside in 0 degree temps, sometimes -10 etc. not sure if that would effect anything. I need it to last me at least 5 years (when its paid off),

How would they react in the cold? and do they over the years kill the car? which would be better? or should i look into finding other ways into making my car faster?

I also use this for everyday driving.

Any way you look at it you're accomplishing the same feat: You're forcing air into a car's engine to increase power output. Of course it's going to stress everything in the motor more. Will it DECREASE engine life? Maybe. Will it be okay in the cold? Yeah. Maybe. Really depends on the tune as well.

Do you see broken down semi trucks all the time by your place? They have turbo's, and they run for millions of miles. Sure there diesels, but that does'nt change the fact they have turbo's and run just fine in the cold.

Do you want to keep the warranty on your car?

even when they do make a supercharger for the new models it'll all boil down to your personal preference... s/c you get easier installation, t/c you get the tougher installation but the result is better power (oh and a bit of lag... )

A blower on the Duratec Focus isn't going to be any easier than a turbo kit in regards to installation. Also, we don't have any lag with our turbo kits using the GT28R.

I have the FS turbo stage 2 here in Michigan. It has seen some pretty cold days with no problem. The car runs great at 0 degree weather. I usually turn the boost down when it's cold cause I don't want to over boost.

Lag is all a matter of proper sizing of the turbo and tuning.

FocusSport has done all the correct math
