So I guess that all of the 24 hour race cars that I saw at Daytona should call you for info about tire selection since the one side of the car that the exhaust comes out of will always get better traction than the other side of the car...
That has to be one of, if not THE, most retarded things I've read on here in a while. At any speed over lets say 15 MPH, the air rushing by the exhaust pipe would dissapate the exhaust enough to not cause any problems. Here is an example:

I'm pretty sure the exhaust temps of that car far exceed the temps of your '97 f-150. And it seems to me that with the amount of money put into these cars, they wouldnt do anything that would cause a disadvantage to themselves.
