Default Super Snail - Bela Round 2 (pics galore)

Ok well as everyone knows my car is the devil. I've had the toughest time getting things working with my car with bad parts here and there, but this is the start of round two!!

I have my parts from Super Snail back, and all I can say is if there is better welding out there, I'm sure I couldn't imagine it. I am so impressed with the quality of these parts I can't put it into words. The manifold is STOUT. Just holding it you can feel the solidity.

The welds are beautiful, the coating is very nice (for now of course, they always go ugly once they burn). The design is excellent!!

This manifold was done in 304 Stainless using .109 wall material! That gives alot of meat to weld into. Obiouvsly with thicker steel, heat retention (causing more expansion) could be an issue over timem, but we'll see what the trade off is.

I'll have more pics once the parts are on the car. Unfortunately it'll be a while, I'm out of town this weekend. But I can't wait to hear the car start again and actually boost again.

Here are the pics:

This is a pic of everything. The new turbo is a GT28RS again w/ T3 exhaust housing using a .69 A/R on the exhaust side. This should spool slightly quicker than the previous one at .83 A/R.

Here are various views of the manifold:

Here is the downpipe. I can't tell you how much I love the flex WG dump pipe!! Maybe it's just me, but I think it's uber cool!!

So obviously you can see the parts are excellent. I wont be able to share the whole story of this deal as it's long and boring, but I can tell anyone looking to use these guys... they are quality people. Not just their workmanship but they as people are awesome. Dealing with companies is always hit and miss when you dont know the integrity of the people you are dealing with. The guys at SuperSnail really stand out as a company you can definately trust!

Glad you like the stuff, Bela.

We try our hardest to put quality in everything we do.

I really don't think you'll have a problem with cracking...but we all know with welding and heat....it's a hit or miss. Only thing i worry about is the heat wrap.

No matter what, you know we have you covered.

I'm not going to wrap it right off... I'm going to test it out as is.

If under hood temps are to high, I will either wrap it or buy a vented hood.

Hmmmm $30.00 or $500.00... tough decision

good job ssf. my only thing is that youll be cramped for space getting the wg on and off, not exactly alot of room to turn a wrench.

Yes that is a port for an EGT gauge. You can't see it, but there is also a port for my wideband O2 sensor in the downpipe.

Turbo is a GT28RS... back in the day it was a rare thing using this turbo.. now everyone and their mother has it hehe

Well actually this is where SuperSnail shines (or at least I think they did, we'll see hehe).

I already have my turbo setup. The location of the turbo and etc were pre-defined. So they had to make me a setup that fit within my already existing constraints. From a first glance it looks like the turbo is going to be in a slightly differently location, but nothing that hump hoses can't fix.

Had I been back at the very very beginning not having any parts for the car. I would have shipped off my turbo, wastegate, and intercooler and said "build me my full kit" that way they could do what they wanted and it would probably have been bad-ass... not to mention it would have cost me several thousands less in the overall scheme of things.

If people learn only one thing from my experience, I hope its to use ONE VENDOR for the full setup. Do not try and piece meal stuff together. Just doesnt work.

Bela,

I'll let you in on a little secret. The turbo IS in a different location, but ONLY the exhaust housing.

1st - We bolted up all your old stuff and made a bracket that went from two of the compressor housing bolts...to the block.

2nd - We removed the old manifold and downpipe and left the turbo hanging ONLY off the bracket we made.

3rd - We rotated the exhaust housing to be nice and flat. It's easier to work with and nicer to look at. THATS why we bolted it to the compressor housing. Your compressor housing should be right in the same spot...and it didn't matter how we moved the exhaust housing.

Cool?

Oh that will be very cool!!!

Well I'm going to make a valiant effort to do as much during the week this week as I can to get stuff mounted. My poor car is so covered with dust it's sad.

that downpipe looks awfully fimiliar hehehhe, everything looks awesome. I and really second Super Snails personal buisness, just very nice to deal with and very helpful. Belacyrf im jealous, your turbo is gonna spool so much faster than mine, well at least mine is shiny
