Exclamation So you wanna delete the AC...

So you wanna delete the A/C on your SVT to make more room for important stuff like big fat ass downpipes....

Well here's how to do it and use the STOCK serpentine belt.

1) Remove the A/C compressor

2) take it apart.... you will NOT need the back half of the housing or ANY of the internals

3)The ribbed pully that is on the AC housing is held on by a C clip and thats ALL that holds it on... you do NOT need the shaft or the outer piece of the pully.... the part that fits over the AC shaft with the teeth in it.

4) All you need is a long bolt, 2 washers, and a nut. All this is needed for is insurance.... in case the c clip ever fails the pully wont go flying off and damage the belt.

Here is what it should look like when its done.......

The reason I did all of this is simple.... its a major PITA to find the right sized belt when removing the AC, and a "dummy pully" cost anywhere from $60 to $120 depending on how much your dealer likes you.

Tried using one of those belts.... it was too long... tried one off of another zetec car... it was too short.. I finally got fed up with it.

Thats one way to make it work. I'm sure there's still going to be the drag on the engine, but primarily the weight savings is why people do the a/c delete (in addition to BFDownpipes).

I thought that when you delete the A/C you will have problems with your defrost, or is that just on a regular zetec, or even just a rumor? That is pretty much the only think keeping me from doing the a/c delete on my zx3 because it has already lost the charge and I hope to someday hit your kind of numbers.

I got the non AC belt from steve FORDSVTPARTS and I thought the same thing at first. Later I found out that the routing is entirely different that with AC, thats why the belt isnt much shorter

Compressor guts, lines, evap canister and condensor.... I'd guess 30 pounds maybe more.

The non AC belt is the proper one, you just have to route it correctly. HondaHunter and I had a tough time figuring it out on his car as well. But it does indeed work. I"ll see if I can get him to post a pic of the routing.

lol, your still adding drag to the belt.

Get a shorter belt and stop waisting your time.

The added drag would be so little that it will never make any difference. But, the way I see it, you might as well free up the space.
