Default boost issue

I have been running my car at 10.5 psi since the turbo was installed. The other day I flogged it, and noticed that it was only going up to 9 psi at best with the same setting on the Turbosmart manual boost controller.

I turned it up to see what it would do, and it still held at only 9psi. (The car definitely doesn't feel as powerful)

I have heard of some of these controllers malfunctioning, but a buddy of mine also mentioned the bypass valve or maybe a vacuum leak. Just would like to know what the Focus turbo gurus think??? Any and ALL help is appreciated!

well, do you have a vacuum gauge with your boost gauge? how much vacuum do you have? could be a slight boost leak...maybe one of the tubes before the maf(if blow through) popped out alittle? what's your wastegate spring at?

The boost gauge has a vacuum side, but I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary(except for the low boost reading). The MAF is a draw-through..... The wastegate spring is supposed to be around 7psi if I recall correctly. It is the stock wastegate from the Xios kit. I don't know what it actually runs because I've always had the boost control. I will probably by-pass the controller just to see what it puts out. Any and ALL help is appreciated! Thanks, Jeremy

sounds like you have a small boost leak. It's probably at one of your couplers. The piping is letting out just a tiny ammount of boost at 9psi. best thing to do would be to losen al your couplers make sure all the piping is where it's supposed to be and then tighten everything back up again.
