Anyone get a piss poor idle with their Powerworks SC? I tried everything including help from Powerworks and my idle is either way high, or way low. My teeth rattle its so low. Plus, I get a wierd sucking type noise once in a while. Any help is much appreciated.

You've probably searched through all the posts on vac leaks, if not do so. I found on mine that the brake booster line that mounts to the vac tree did not sit as tightly as it should have, when I replaced it all my idle issues disapeared. Give it a little pull and see how tight it is...

Every now and then mine decides it does not want to idle either. I changed the IAC with a new Ford unit and have raised and lowered the base idle adjust as well. It's either too high and sets a "idle high" code or just decides to stall once in a while.I have learned to live with it,but it is annoying. Good thing I don't drive in stop and go traffic.Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I do sympathize with you.

Since my tune and the upgraded IAC from MSS, my idle is pretty damn good. My tuner bumped my idle up to 1050rpm and also ajusted my dashpots. Car idles great now. I have a few hanging revs from time to time, but nothing bad. They will hang around like 1200 - 1400 rpms until I come closer to a stop. Hasn't stalled, or, even come close since the tune.

The noise you are getting may be the oil pump vibration noise.
Mark or someone on here told me one time that they had an issue with the noise being the baffle or something in the oil pan at a certain temp. vibrating or something. That noise is nothing to be concerned with.

Someone with this idle problem, give a little tug to their brake booster line, where it meets the vac neck, with the car running and tell me what happens.....

i would man...but i cant get to the car now...maybe my father can for me...
you mean right where it comes out of the main brake booster (and then makes the 90DEG turn and down to the SC vac tree???) i will have him try it today sometime.......if i can man......mine was tight there though.... i don't have any real IDLE issues.....just the hanging REV issues. and i have all the motor mounts upgraded, so i get rattled anyways ![]()

where the line meets the vac tree not the firewall end. The design of the connector is not the greatest.
