Hey everyone. So i picked up a 2002 Focus SVT in march and have loved every minute of it. When i was 15 i saw the SVT focus come out at my dads work(he works up at FORD). Now that i own one I'm like a little kid in a candy store! Anyways, I've kept my car stock till now. I blew a head gasket and maybe worse(stupid coolant hoses). I got used SVT motor with less miles then mine. I want to build a custom turbo but dont know the limit for boost on a stock motor. Its my daily driver. Any suggestions....

Welcome to FocalJet.
I'm going to move this to our Forced Induction section for some technical input. But also feel free to leaf through our SVT Headquarters section for some other tidbits about modifying your SVTF.

What turbo? The biggest, most important thing is the tune. Any amount of boost with a bad tune can ruin the motor. I believe the record is around 360 or 380whp on a stock SVT engine.

John (Orange03SVT) pulled 386whp completely stock block. Don't try that at home, though. I'm shooting for 350whp on race gas, even less for DD. Most people seem to be very happy with 300whp and it's very very safe for an SVT.

bingo... im shooting for around 300-340whp on 93oct using svt internals.... http://www.xiosmotorworks.com/xios_svt_focus_turbo.html xios still produces a turbo kit for the svt i believe... you'd need to contact them to find out more info... but the turbo they use is the same turbo john used to hit 360+whp daily driven... but he had quite a bit of custom work also.... i think topspeedperformance has a turbo kit on the market now aswell... anyways... stock svt motor will support 350whp with a SOLID tune without too much hassle... the tranny and axles will hold up fine... the clutch will self destruct... so plan on picking up a clutch/flywheel combo from somewhere... (i prefer southbend clutch... im running the svt 6spd in my sedan and thats the company that built the clutch for my turbo project) anyways... good luck with your mods -AcId-

We offer the DIY tubo kit, which is the manifold, turbo, wastegate, and flanges. Click here for more information on that. We do offer all the other individual part like the blow off valve, boost controller, silicone hoses, clamps, intercooler, and so on for someone to make a custom turbo kit.

I would recommend 8 to 12 psi on the the stock engine. I have seen people do more, but I rather recommend staying conservative on how much boost to run.

To keep things simple, I also recommend CFM's DIY kit then buy the other necessary components. It will be one of the cheapest options while still getting high-quality parts. With the SPA 5250 turbo included in the CFM kit, you can run between 250 - 280whp, depending on boost level. Maybe more if you wan to crank up boost a little more.

Xios would be good but i paid 4500 for my SVTF and i really dont want to spend the same amount on a turbo! With a kid on the way my fiance told me to do whatever i want within reason! So its my last toy for some time.

If you are on a tight budget you may be able to piece a kit together for 3grand or so but, I would recommend a used supercharger kit they can be had for $2000 with tuning which I gather would be more in your price range.
