Default Supercharger Progress!

Since I have not been here much lately...here is the latest update on the Supercharger for the Duratec. We have been working with Kraftwerks on this for a little while and we finally got the Mazda 3 dialed in correctly. The next phase of cars will be cycling through and yes it is the Focus. We have the new brackets made for the Focus and have a new supercharger on the way to install it and get a working kit on the car. We will be installing one on a 2005 2.0L ATX and another on a 2008 2.0L 5-speed.

Take a look at the dyno graph from our last run at Kraftwerks, Stage 1 on a 2004 Mazda 3 2.3L 5-speed.

PSI is not really relevant with a supercharger as getting up to speed...but that was at 4.3psi

And we are using Kraftwerks ECU on this setup...

not bad peak numbers for 4.3 psi, is that whp?

why does the hp drop so much from 5750-7000rpms?

That is whp....

The reason of the drop is we have a restrictor in the supercharger and that helps to keep the AFR's happy. The curves are similar to all of Kraftwerks Supercharger setups....Oscar Jackson loves it and blessed it so we leave it alone...

Did you look at the Dyno for the Honda Fit? And the Miata kit?

The s2000 also has a drop but not as big....also not a fair comparison...S2000 and Duratec on a Mazda 3 or Focus...

how come the miata only drops off 7hp while the duratec dyno you have falls over 25hp?

fit only fails 15hp...?

why cant the AF ratio work in the upper rpm's without this restrictor?

Because the mazda ecu doesn't play nice with others. It's hard to tune properly

We are playing a percentage game on how much fuel the car needs and how much the ECU wants to pull back...we have to be in a certain range...the stock ECU want to naturally pull the fuel at the top end and that created pinging...no good...so we compensated for it...

Oscar wanted to move the power band and then at the end choke it off to keep the AFR's....all I can say is he is awesome to work with and I look forward to working with him and Jr. on the other projects and vehicles we have lined up....

So, the focus kit will probably have a completely different power band because of the ability to tune it properly?

Exciting news! Can't wait to see this progress. Will this delete the AC as I've heard before?

No this will not delete the AC we made a new bracket that will keep it...

And we expect the Focus curve to be a lot better than the Mazda one...

This is great news for me cuz i have a 2.3l duratec wich is automatic. I was planning on making it into a stick and putting a turbo on it. But if everything works out and make a superchager for the 2.3l ill buy it instead. How much would it be?

Well the 2008 Focus gets the bracket and charger installed next week, plumbed and on to Kraftwerks next weekend or the weekend after for tuning and testing...we hope to have final product on the car by early next month and released by thanksgiving. We have CARB testing coming up in Early december on the Mazda and trying to the Focus in at the same time...

Pricing is not set yet but we should get some final numbers from Kraftwerks this week.

Will this be intercooled for the focus? Also I hope you are planning more boost. Otherwise it looks promising.

it would be nice if it would be 3k...but the fit uses one of the smallest superchargers Rotrex makes. We are using a C30-74 not the same supercharger at all. So I expect pricing to be more than that...also remember the kit will be CARB legal...

We will have a stage 1 (CARB legal), Stage 2 and Stage 3.

Stage 1 is not intecooled but the others stages will be...
