Alright, I'll officially start my own build thread because I got some nice goodies in the mail today
.GT2871R + TS goodies ![]() Top Speed manifold w/Tial MVS wg ftmfwmf ![]() wastegate recirc with flexpipe ftw ![]() Kind of mundane parts, but still part of the build .AFR, oil press, and boost. 30psi oil press at idle, ~75 when revving up. 15 in/Hg at idle. ![]() Need to install these some time. IM coupler kit. ![]() How do you guys feel about the HKS? I was thinking of putting the sound insert on it that takes away the shrill "psshhheeeee!!!" and just makes it a whoosh.

Oh whoops, forgot to put what turbo. GT2871R. Pretty solid turbo. My goal is 350whp, but I don't think I'll run that much since it's a little dangerous. Maybe I'll buy 10 gal of race gas and run that every now and then.
As for "deep pockets"...not really but I'm not going on a budget. Buying everything new basically and trying to get all quality parts. The HKS bov is actually $200 so I don't need to upgrade. I ran it on a big turbo Talon I used to own and it worked great. It's just that some people think the HKS sounds ricey after a while.

I think I will run it without insert for a little bit and see peoples' reactions vs. when I have the insert in. The insert is only $10. There really aren't many parts I can sell to fuel my build. I can sell the header *afterwards*. I can sell my stock cat but...those things are kinda like gold...$2200 brand new or whatever? I guess if I don't have the header I don't need the cat. Aggh, can't decide!
I have a lump sum of money coming Nov 1 but until then I'm trying to install everything that can go on without being turbo'd. Thinkin about ordering some DEI heat wrap and getting all the stuff wrapped up nice and tight. Also gonna get a turbo blanket. Saw a vid of a guy who held his hand on one during a full dyno pull.

^^I'd run it with the purple insert if I were you--there are a few available but that is the most "classy" and most importantly not ricey.

Well you know the sound the SSQV makes. That "ppssshhheeee" or "tttssskkkeeee" or however you think of it. It's the sound they use in all the movies and video games. I've heard people say they think that's a "ricey" sound even though I would have a sweet turbo setup under the hood which in no way can be ricey. Like I said, I won't buy the insert just yet.

I still prefer the nice quiet diverter valve. My friend's SRT-4 gets on my nerves whenever we take it to lunch, the constant farting is just awful.
I dont know how I do it but whenever I drive it, I find some way to keep it in a constant blow off, like one big walking fart.

Hrrmmm....then learn how to drive! Sorry, I don't like to be too quiet. I like getting stares and have people wonder what's under the hood. I remember cruisin downtown in my friend's turbo S2000 with a full J's Racing bodykit....we had people asking us to floor it all the time and I think we turned about 100 heads in just one go around.

Got some DEI "titanium" heat wrap. Wrapped the manifold and mocked it up for length on the wg dumptube into the downpipe. The reason I didn't wrap the downpipe yet is I need to get it welded into the rest of my exhaust and didn't want to only wrap this portion.

Yeah, by dumptube I meant the tube that comes off of the wastegate and it feeds into the downpipe.

Sure am! Gonna get the Frozen Boost 26x7x2 heat exchanger, Flojet pump, 12x12x4 or whatever I/C and a Focus coolant overflow tank as a reservoir.

I would get a bigger reservoir if I were you. At least 1 gallon, 2 would be better. That way if you want to put ice in it you can.

^^Let me know how that heat exchanger works, I think a thicker one would benefit mine.

Where do I put it??? hah. Our engine bay is small man. I have a race battery that I can reposition to make room for the I/C, but it's gonna be hard finding space for a 1 gal reservoir.

It could be put on the other side of the frame rail behind the bumper in front of the tire. There is lots of room for it believe me I have thought a lot about it. I would do a water to air if I already did not have a second very expensive a/a core sitting in my Pile-o-parts.

Don't have no money, sorry. AF owes me big bucks on the 30th. I will order a crap ton more parts after that. If I don't have enough money for the rest of the parts, I'll get J&S and KB BAP so I can install them right away. Toughest part will be positioning the WTA setup. Like I said, though, I should be able to order a ton of parts then I will take piczzz

I can show you some pics of what I built recently. It should help you figure some things out. I built a bracket for the intercooler that uses the front 2 trans mount bolts. It's kind of overkill but would be simple enough to make one for you.
I don't have pics right now but will have them soon. I also am making brackets that put the battery behind the bumper in front of the drivers side wheel. Fit a full size battery no problem.
