Default opinion: New Ford Capri

there have been rumors that ford's next Living legend will be a Reborn Ford Capri.

what I am hearing is:

next gen Focus platform
AWD
350hp turbo
coupe or t-top.

May be an extention of the pinfarina Start concept car.

My feeling is that the Cossie, the RS and ST170 will be basically dressed up Foci while the Capri will be a new bird completely. aimed more at the Audi TT and BMW Z3, with upscale skin and inards.

The motors are still a mystery, Mazda and Cosworth are working on the Focus Cosworth turbo powerplant now. I am making the assumption that the Cossie will be 2.0 liters due to WRC rules, and maybe a larger displacement variant could be used for the Capri.

but I don't work for Ford I could be wrong.

My father had a Capri in the 80s I remeber him letting me shift the gears for him in it, it was pretty cool.

Ah, man, don't get me excited! That would be awesome, I never even thought of a reborn Capri as a Living Legends contender but man with those specs... WOW!

I would like to see the return of the Ford Capri, just not that small two seater version. IMHO, that was butt ugly.

I don't recall seeing Capris like in the Pic. The ones I remember were based on the Mustang and made during the early 80s. 2 family members had one each and were decent 4 cylinder cars at the time. As far as a new Capri, will it be based on the Mustang, the Focus, or a original design?

Is it like the Mercury Capri?

My friend has one, it's a tiny little car.. it really sucks when I get stuck sitting in the backseat.

It's got some trouble making it up some hills, but other than that seems ok.. never drove it myself, so dunno about handling or anything.

Most people on this side of the Atlantic on know of 2 Capri's.

The Euro Capri was sold by Lincoln Mercury dealers from 70-77, with 1600CC, 2000CC, and 2.6L V6 engines.

Me too! My friends brother had one that was just a hell bent road racer. Man it was fun when he took us for rides! I'd love to find one and wrench it up into a time trialer!!

There was a '72 for sale around here a while back for $800. Wish I had the money at the time to buy it!
