Thumbs up Re: Coolant leaks - cheap fix info!

SOB. Wouldn't you know it. My first problem and now the ball is going to roll i bet. I changed my pads, rotors and put on SS lines last weekend and no leak. I move my car today to get more room in the garage and notice the leak. I almost got pissed at myself for not tightening my brake lines till i found out what it was. I ordered the 203 ring and will put it on the lift to change next weekend. If anyone needs a few send me your address and i will mail them to you. I am not going to worry about the .50 cents for shipping just willing to help others being it is cheap and sounds liek the pain to install will be more costly.

One more thing. Brian (HTPerformance) mentioned putting in the 180 thermostat. Is there an issue with the stocker? Does it improve something other than lowering temps?

All it will do is lower the normal operating temperature under normal conditions. It doesn't mean your system will now remove move heat - that takes a bigger radiator. It will just open to allow flow to the radiator sooner.

I made up a webpage for the info regarding getting the replacements. Quite a few people have asked for Priority Service and that is now available.

Sorry about bumping this up but I just fixed my leak by replacing the o-ring but I managed to lose the clip because I am retarded. Where can I find replacement clips? I already went to my local hardware store and they had nothing similar to the clip. Thanks!

Took my SVTF to get some rear bushings replaced...they not only replaced the rear lower, front, swaybar but noticed the coolant leak and replaced the thermostat and everything under my extended warranty...this work and replacing my moonroof a few months back pretty much paid for the extended warranty..

In replacing this o-ring, and putting it in a new thermostat housing, does the housing come with a gasket?

    About the thermostate.

Hotter is better! More power. Modern engines are designed to run hotter for clean exhaust and more power. I recommend leaving stock.

Better for burning off water from the oil, etc. Many benefits from a hotter running engine, of course up to the design limits.

    Hey,
I've recently noticed a coolant leak into my spark plugs. My car hasn't misfired (yet), but I was wondering if you ever figured out why the leak was occuring. I have already replace the T-stat housing. If you did or do, just e-mail me or reply. If not and I find out soon, I'll send you word.
    Thanks!
