Default My FSwerks Focus is on some good meth!

Methanol that is

Installed a cooling mist trunk mount system to go with my FSwerks stage 2 turbo setup. Install took about an hour, pretty straight forward and nothing fancy.

Tools:
Drill
Screw Driver
Wire crimper
Sockets

Here is the kit laid out:

the 150psi pump:

my dog being curious:

this is how it will look when put together:

you will need to drill a hole on the dimple at the bottom of the tank for the pick up fitting:

There's a 1" distance from the hole to the bottom, so I added some nylon tubing so the pump will be able pick up all the fluid if I ever happen to get that low, applied a very light coat of silicone before sticking the tube in. Just so it doesn't happen to wiggle loose over time:

I mounted my tank/pump in the spare tire well and drilled a 3/4" hole at the bottom to route my water/meth feed and boost reading nylon hoses:

Routed the lines under the car, over the front cross member and through the driver side fender, the lines come up from under the headlight:

Pump all wired up:

With some research, i found that walmart windshield washer fluid was the cheapest and easiest way to get your water/meth, its a 62/38 mix. There are some things you need to look out for when buying windshield washer fluid to use for this type of application.

More pictures to come, my hands were extremely dirty by this point so I stopped taking pictures of the install process.

Yep, they use methanol in ww fluid to keep it from freezing.

OP, Nice job on the install and good looking kit! What's the brand? How did you determine that the Wally-World ww fluid is a 62/38 mix?

Is that the snow kit?

You can use the ww fluid for the intake charge.

^^I would suggest just purchasing straight methanol and mixing it 50/50. Over time the detergents and other stuff used in the windshield washer fluid can cause harm to the internals. Also, if you are going to do the "nitro booster", don't waste your money--I was told directly by Snow Performance that it's 100% nitromethane which you can get for 20 or 30 bucks a gallon, rather than the $30 per 8oz bottle they sell it as.

How does this affect your charge temps? Have you datalogged it yet?

I found a chart from other forums that shows the % of methanol in each brand of washer fluid. Water is for cooling and methanol is for raising octane, from what I've read.

My focus is driven daily so I perfer to use ww fluid since it only runs me $1 a gallon.

The kit is a coolingmist trunk mount. Ran me about $220 shipped to my door. www.coolingmist.com

You care to share that chart and/or forums?

I use Snow Boost Juice which is a 51/49 (water/meth) mix and it works very well, albeit kind of expensive ($7.50/gallon). If you get any on your hands it gets immediately cold and evaporates within 5-10 secs.

^^That's why I mix my own 50/50 solution. You can make it for at or less than half that price that way.

$0.64/gal !!! Can you purchase it by the case? Hell, with shipping/handling I pay $40 to my door for 4 gallons of Snow Boost Juice. I'd sacrifice 4-5% meth for that price...

Always use distilled water to mix with.

Also, the above warning about detergents/surfactants is valid. You don't want to use ww fluid except for emergencies.

...Why distilled water? I've always used spring water (purified, either way...).

'Purified' water, such as spring water/bottled water COULD have minerals in it still. No way to verify that it doesn't. By distilling the water yourself you can ensure that ALL minerals are left behind. I would assume you'd be okay either way, but tap water is definitely not an option lol.

^What NHFocus said... minerals are bad (calcium, silicon, iron and other trace metals). Distilling means only water is left. I'd never use anything but distilled water, unless it was a temporary use for some emergency coverage.
