I asked TD, and they said the best chance to fit those brakes would be with the
PR1's in the 17" size.

What makes these wheels better than brand x? I am in the market for some wheels, and I like the first style in silver. I see they are lightweight - and apparently racing wheels, anything else?

The Pro Race range is meticulously manufactured to minimize weight and then heat treated to maximize strength to meet the demanding needs of race teams throughout the world.
The bottom line is high strength and lightweight which is expensive to produce. These wheels are engineered to race specifications which are more demanding than street wheels. These are among the most durable wheels made. These are purpose wheels, not just "looks " wheels. Besides strength, the finish is definately more durable too.

Most of us never buy wheels like these because we can't afford, or won't spend,
$200+ a wheel. This deal is a major discount on wheels of this type/level which can't be duplicated with any other wheel, anywhere else.

BustOnIt;

Thanks for the response, I can see why the wheels would be better then. Which color is the bright silver one?

I think it's power silver, but I can't find any high res pics on their website to verify.

Also; The Pro Race 1 has a 45mm offset, is this sufficient for a lowered car? I bought the wrong offset last time and they rub ... I was planning on buying Ford Racing wheels with a 49mm offset. I have an Eibach Suspension Kit installed, Pro Kit I think?

I assume I would go with 205 series tires as well?

Power Silver could be considered a "mock" chrome or a "shiney metal". As far as offset goes with the ProKit (35mm drop), 45mm is just fine. Tire wise, 205 45 17 is a recommended size, although you should be fine with 215 45. Lmk if you have any further questions.

I'd love to update it, however no one has picked up a set except for me, and the inventory on hand reflects that. I'm not to sure how long TD is going to keep this available. Although there is interest, without moving sets, I can't see this lasting.

I will be buying the PR1 in anthracite extremely soon. I am just waiting on the bonus check that I will get Nov. 14. I hope they can hold out for that long.

I'm interested in picking up a set, I just have to get my camber issue resolved (car in the shop now) but I've got the money available. I'm just hoping I don't have to use too much of it to fix this current issue though. : (

I got turned on to this group buy over on the MCA forums (Merkur Club of America) and am seriously considering a set of the PR2s, but had a question... what color is the Anthracite exactly? I've seen a bunch of "anthracite" wheels and the color seems to range from a medium grey to a bronzy dark grey. Any idea?

Hi,
Welcome to the Jet. I have seen the Anthracite color TD uses and it is definitely dark grey, but not a hint of bronze IMO. lmk

Thanks for the welcome. I think joining might pay off longer-term than just this group buy. I've been seriously considering a Focus SVT for a while, and next year it may be a necessity. And if a version of the Focus RS makes it stateside, I'll definitely be dropping the coin on one!

Also thanks for the info on the color. I'm having a tough time deciding between the anthracite and the white to go on my white Cosworth-wannabe XR. Any possibility of them being available in primer through this group buy? Then I could just paint them as I see fit. Otherwise I suppose I could always blast 'em and repaint them later.

Thanks again... still mulling it over... if the PR2s were available in 38mm offset it'd be a done deal, no problem. But considering buying spacers and longer studs has me hesitating a bit. Still, it's tough to beat this price for a set of light weight 17s.

An SVT would be nice. Any RS new Focus would be a blessing for us all. Primer isn't an option on the wheels. I thought about the two different wheels and for some reason I have a hard time with the PR2s. I just can't put my finger on it. The additional weight savings helps, but I guess I'm just a sucker for the multi spoke wheels. White on white works great if the colors are close. Anthricate on white to me would give a little more business attitude. It's too bad TD has sold out of their 4x108, 38mm offset wheels here in the states. It is definitely a decision to go with the 45's and the spacer set up. At least today, there are good manufacturers in the business who make quality parts you can count on when the wheels aren't just right.

Well, I had a busy evening going to a GTG with the MNFocus group. We had a great time as usual. We have some very nice cars in the group and the owners are even better. All characters. Never a dull moment. You will like the Jet. Plenty of good information and solid forum members. I know there are plenty of members who love Merkurs. It's got to be pretty cool having one. You should post up some pics of your car in Rigz.
