Damn - that's my kind of build right there!
Nice work - cant wait to see what you do with your focus. And do, please tell the rest of the build.

Here's mine, I built it a couple yrs ago but it's still pounding hard, I want to replace the sub soon and probably the amp as well...

Right now it's a 12" Bazooka P Miller Series. A decent sub for what it is, it's done me well. I paired it with an Apline V12 amp that is running at 400 RMS. I have 2 sets of Alpine DD Drives for my components. All this is running off a Pioneer deck that has served me well but may get replaced in the near future and end up in my Pathfinder along with the amp to run 2 10's.

Before. I decided I wanted my trunk back...

Empty

Sound Deadening.

The box frame. I laid tin foil down in the well, it's very easy to remove from the fiberglass, much easier than plastic bags like I've used before.

First layer of glass.

Took a break for the night, let the first layer of glass dry then continued the next day. This is the lid for the box, it covers the entire area of the trunk.

Added 4 more layers glass, 3 inside and 1 outside to ensure an airtight seal.

Finished product. On top of the lid for the box, I put four braces then used a piece of 1/4" mdf with carpet glued on to make a floor piece for my hatch.

Then I made a piece of checker plate into a cover, although in the summer this sometimes leads to heat issues, putting the amp into protection periodically. I'm thinking about taking it off...

^just get a fan to blow across the heatsink. i like how clean everything looks. output wouldn't be enough for me, but i like more bass than the average person.

i have the xscorpion crossflows in my set up. you wouldn't even need to set up a crossflow for something that small though, so just one fan would be enough.

ROC585 - Honestly the way that box pounds, one 12" with 400 watts RMS is enough for me. It's crystal clear, which is what I was wanting to achieve and it can be pretty loud. I achieved 128db a few weeks ago with it.

I'm well beyond just pounding the pavement so that the neighbors 3 blocks away wet their beds. I wanted a good sounding system, this was actually the third time I built this fiberglass box before I got it sounding really good.

Yeah, there's sometimes that I wish I had more juice and more subs but as a few of the local guys here can attest to, it pounds pretty good.

My gf's sister came out with us tonight to the drive in theatre, I suffered through the Time travellers wife for them and they agreed to pay attention to GI Joe... They didn't have a choice but to pay attention, I had it cranked pretty good, it was awesome.

We left the drive in with Sexy Bitch by Akon and David Guetta cranked, while we were driving home Shan got a call and told her friend "You have to sit in the back of Glenn's car next time we go out, I swear, it will give you a ****ing orgasm!!! Seriously. I think I'm wet." I couldn't help but laugh.

i believe you that it gets the job done for you. 128 is a good number for one 12 with 400rms. however, i am peaking 148's with music AND it's a daily driven car and tuned that way. it is not tuned to burp 60Hz, but instead is set up to achieve solid SQ while being obnoxiously loud.

i like your set up though, as i said it is nice and clean. do you have an amp running your frontstage?

JBL P1222 12'' sub running on a JBL GTO1201.1 1200 watt amp. 4awg wire. The amp has swollen capacitors on it now and i guess in return blew the sub as well. So i just have the enclosure and wires. Lucky me the sub is under a warranty so i just have to pay S&H to get it back. Just ordered another GTO1201.1 today. Should be here next week sometime and the sub is also on its way. CANT WAIT!!!! I got that amp used, so thats probably why it sucked lol

Sorry ROC. Never saw your post till tonight. No amp for the front stage right now, running off the deck powered straight off the battery, giving me 60 watts, read with a multi meter, I have 58 watts running through it. It works but I do want to amp the front when I redo the system.

Thinking of doing air over coil suspension over the winter and I would put the compressor and tank in on either side of the actual sub box. Keep it all hidden and clean.

Not right now it isnt. Im going to replace the bottom piece that covers the spare tire with some wood and carpet it to match the interrior and probably use L Brackets on the back to hold it in place. It slides around A LOT in the back there and i used to have it with the sub pointing out, it ended up getting REALLY close to the back of the car and preventing the sub from moving.

get that taken care of ASAP. not for the well being of the sub, but you'd be surprised at how much damage an unsecured box can do in an accident.

rofl ive seen the damage its done to my amp, that got too old, it cracked the acrylic and broke that top right piece off the amp. Had to slam on my breaks and the sub went from the back to the front real fast. Only problem now is money. Cant afford wood for the back lol. Saving for it though.

I could only imagine an 85lb enclosure plowing through the seat.

$30 bucks in wood, a $13 dollar can of 3m 90 adhesive, and $20 in carpet and you have a floor.

How does that sound? my bimmer that i drive now has ZERO trunk space, and that seems like an awesome idea for the focus i just got.

does it rattle? or does it sound okay, i guess if you do it right, it wont rattle.. haha..

did you port the top, or are both sides sealed?

My 06 Focus ST.......very basic setup. I have had the big systems, just don't have the time I used to, so kinda just thrown in, but still does the job.

JVC-8500

Pioneer Premier comps and quite a bit of fatmat sound deadener......cheap, but worked.

Clarion 4-channel amp on the high end. Old, but still works well.

HiFonics bass amp....does 1800rms at 2-ohm on my 2 10" Pioneer Premier subs. Did 146.7 last time I was on a TL. Sounds good on all music to boot!

My Kerfed ported box I made. 2.0cft@34.

Red top Optima up front, with Big3 done in 0/1g Knu Konceptz wire.

My Powermaster in the back hidden in the spare tire well.

Pic of the ole school Pioneer Premier 250-spl sub. Don't make them like they used too.

My Second Skin Damplifer in the trunk, along with the cheaper Fatmat.

Older install I did in my 02 Cavalier......cheap stuff, but had time, lol!

My 85 Cutlass that was stolen sometime ago.

Amps that stuck out like a sore thumb, lol! Car was loud!

My older Pioneer Premier deck and Soundstorm DVD player.

My 7" Flip-down TV.

4-12" Audiopipe subs.......they were their top of the line, lol! Hit over150 with them, but didn't sound all that good, just very loud.

My 02 Protege5.....walled off with Kove u2 subs. Was my loudest car to date at 155.5. Was a lot of fun! I miss this the most.

2 1501 modded class D MTX amps doing over 2k each.

Only pic I had of my car with my 18" Limited rims.....I have since grown out of the chrome big rim era, lol!

Okay that is it for now, thanks for looking!

Never took pic's of it when I made it, but is pretty basic, besides the kerf. Was pretty easy to make really.

I have some pic's of the box I helped make when we walled off my Protege5, just need to find them, lol!

Nothing professional, local shows for fun was all. I was well known in the area though.......to well known unfortunately! Hence my Cutty that was stolen!

Those amps were beasts! I loved them...and never let me down.
