![]() when you say you built around it, did you cut a hole in your box for that metal mount and use something like silicone to fill in the air gaps? |

tape it up and fiberglass around it - your glass mold will ... be voila, lock fit.

You know how many cars these days don't even come with a spare but have a can of "fix a flat" instead? Hell, most owners would call AAA instead of changing their own flat tire. Even the 08 Focus doesn't have a spare stock.....it's an option you have to add. In the 18 years that I have been driving, I have had ONE flat. ONE flat in probably 400,000 miles. I think some feel safe on taking their chances. ![]()

Some are better than others. I had to change out 2 tires in about 2.5 years that a can wouldn't fix.
(however, my Ford OEM skull-crasher of a lug wrench is missing, so I need to replace that or the spare won't do me much good. lol ) |

I can't attach images to posts, so here is a link to my flickr album for my first attempted false floor install.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/lesliec...7605099080693/ No fiberglass, just plain old 3/4" MDF. |

Back when I fiberglassed a enclosure in to the wheel well, I just placed bunched up wax paper over (and around) the screw mount thing and then laid glass over it. I knew the spare tire would be back one day. Although depending on sub depth it may get in the way. Quote:
Thankfully my car insurance also comes with Roadside Service. But the sub was submerged, and the spare would rest on top, above the sub. Kinda like a grill to hide the sub! Now it's all removed and all I listen to is talk-
