Default pioneer head unit with external hard drive

Does anyone else out there have a pioneer head unit with a external hard drive. And if so did you have to run a second power source?
I have a 120 gig WD and it works fine but I had to get a extra power because the Pioneer does not supply enough power. Im just trying to clean up the install. I ran wires and put a power outlet in the glove box.

I run a Toshiba 160gig, and don't have a problem with power at all.

What deck do you have? Have you had problems with the deck only able to play so many folders?
