Default Focus 4600 head unit specifications...noob

its my first post here....just got 2000 white focus SE and had a couple of questions.

It has the factory sound system(4600) and factory speakers. I recently bough 4 Polk audio DB571 5 x7 speakers to replace the stock.

So my first question:
1. Would the 5 x 7 speakers fit in the 6 x8 slot without any adapters?
2. Does the factory unit have an amp? may i should rephrase the question....will the factory unit be able to pump out enough dope for the db571's or should i buy a new head unit/amp?

3. i am prolly going to install the speakers myself, any guides online as to how to install them?

thanks

Most 5x7's will fit without an adaptor, look on the speaker to see if they have the extra mounting tabs.

You could run them off of the factory deck, an aftermarket stereo will give you a little more power, and more controll (eq's).

Check out the "sticky" section, for some faq's, and tips. Be sure to read the wire colour, to make sure you have the polarity correct on all speakers, as you will have to cut off the plug that goes into the factory speakers.

Before you cut the speaker harness off run you booty down to ur local best buy and buy the speaker harness. they are like 24$ for both front and rear but they plug into the factory harness and you will always get the polarity correct. Cutting harnesses is silly these days. You will need metra part number 72-5600.

You are correct, Best Buy Canada dropped the speaker harnesses about 2 years ago. Try Crutchfield.
