just got my valentine 1, itll be used mostly on the focus since its my DD so im going to hardwire in there and use the lighter adapter in my mustang(or order another hard wire kit). im looking for an easy to access key on power wire to use the supplied quick splice that came with the kit. im sure there will be a ground close enough to whatever wire so that shouldnt be an issue.

get a fuse tap and use one of the fuses that are ign on in the fuse box.
you can use one of the small bolts right there for ground.

yeah im going to use that for my sirius but im pretty sure they need diff rated fuses.
i also got a GPS nav thing i won free from work and i wanna use that in both cars and not need to hard wire that one so i need to hard wire both my Sirius and my V1 in so the power outlet thing can be used for my GPS

No just use the acc. wire from the ignition. I wouldnt use the heated seat power. I also wouldnt use a fuse tap either, Just take the extra 5 mins and go to the acc wire. I for the life of me cant remember the color of it but its easy to test for. It is the safest place to go to for power and each device has its own fuse so they are protected as well as the acc wire itself

![]() that is what i wanna use for my sirius, why dont you like those? i use those for my gauges in my mustang. its the perfect solution for most wiring i think. keeps the fuse for whatever your tapping into and adds a fuse of your choice amp rating for the device your adding on. how can i get to the acc wire from ignition?

That fuse tap looks ok but I try to stay away from them, Most of the fuse taps I have seen actually open the fuse contacts or slide over the fuse tang. As for the acc wire they are at the key cylinder along with the 12v,ign,starter wires. I honestly dont remember the color of the acc wire and I am not at work to check. Its not in the sticky as I just looked but I will look tomorrow and see what the color is for you. You can use that tap though it looks like a decent tap. I just prefer to use the acc wire.

Sunroof power, if you have it...simple, and right by where you mount the detector, if you know anything about them....

I wouldn't use wipers, think if that circuit was to fail... To keep it simple, why not just tap the wires comming off the back of the power outlet? The devices you are talking about running draw very little current, so this should not overload the circuit. Again, if it does, only those accessories stop working, instead of causing a more vital item to fail as well.

I have used this setup for my XM radio for almost 2 years now. ![]() I just put it in the fuse for the radio/acc and it works fine. That same lead is powering my XM and iPod now as well.
