Default Static-cling?

Hey All,
I wanted to run this by you guys and get some ideas.

I have a 2002 ZX3 3DR w/ the factory stereo system. For some reason there is a static\crackle throughout the system but only when I mash on the gas. Or at least that's when I notice it more.

So, any ideas? I want to start upgrading my audio/video system but I want to trouble shoot this first.

Thanks in advance.

loose ground / bad ground somewhere. maybe some plug wire as well.

make sure the underhood grounds are good.

Shorting out voice coil? Speaker wire rubbed through? Replacing the speaker to attempt to eliminate the distortion would be the first step - after checking/upgrading the ground (always a good idea).
