Default Nice deal on some Rockford Fosgate door speakers

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8265575&productCategoryId=abcat0 302010&type=product&id=1170289779636
$29.99 (pair), reg around $130
These are available through Best Buy online at an outlet price, but they are BNIB. I ordered a set last week and installed them in the front doors today, what a difference! I'm ordering another set now for the back doors.

The only con is having to cut the factory speaker plug to wire in the new speaker, but for the sound difference at such a cheap price, I didn't mind.

well if you went to your local best buy and got a pair of 72-5600 by metra you wouldnt have to cut the plug off. They make a plug for just about everything now. If youthink they sound good now then put an amp on them.

Ya, get a 100x2 amp (or somethin close) and they will really come alive. Good deal, can't beat that man.

so they fit w/o any adapter plates pr anything? you recommended them to me in a previous thread but I did not order them because they were listed as not fitting the fofo on the best buy site using the fitment guide.

no you wont need any adaptors other then the speaker harnesses. they will have a trim ring that steps them up to the 6x8-I believe anyways. I cant remember if they are set up that way or just slightly oversized to fit both applications of 5x7 and 6x8.

They fit without the trim plate. Oops, I had the terminals on a speaker touching.

you dont have to run speaker wire to each door...just find out what wires go to the speakers from the back of the HU and connect the wires from the amp behind your dash....thats the easy way at least....

They are awesome, once you install all 4 speakers, the music comes alive.

So, do I need an amp to run these speakers, cuz I want better sound, however I cnat spend that much money right now. Could I just wire them with the ford style plug pigtails??

Yeah, that's how I wired them. Just cut off the factory plug that was for your OEM speakers. I don't use them with an amp and they sound amazing.

okay, I took off the rear panel so it wouldnt be anything new when they come in, and I noticed the wires going to the rear speakers are white with one having a purple stripe and one with a green stripe. Which is pos. and which is neg.? What about the front speakers??

The rule I usually follow is, the color closest to black is the negative. But if I recall correctly,
Back:
Purple: +, Green: -
Front:
White: +, Gray: -

In case you mess up, be prepared to turn your radio on. If they are hooked up backwards they won't mess anything up, they just won't play.

Umm thats just silly! They will play just have no bass if they are wired backwards from one another. even if they are all wired up with the negs. as positives they will sound fine. It's when you have them wired backwards from one another. To see if you have it wired correctly just take the balance from one side to center and if the bass reduces then they are backwards-granted you will need to check the fronts then the backs and then all together. Now if one of the terminals are touching the metal door or rear panel then yes they wont play possibly as it grounds the amp out.

you could just take a battery and touch the wires behind the HU to the pos/neg on the battery and see which one moves. I think you can tell by the direction the cone moves on the speaker.

Or you could just buy the adapters from crutchfield and call it a day! Just an idea. Great deal on these speakers though.

They just keep you from having to cut the factory harness. It is a connector with 2 leads.
