Default Help this audio noob! Want to replace the stock SVT - audiophile amp...help!

Alright so I have the audiophile system in my SVTf (the one with the 8 inch sub in the hatch). I replaced the sub itself with a component rockford fosgate Punch II. Of course this is not listed on crutchfields site anymore... I think it was rated for like 200-300 watts?

Anyway... I popped it in like a year back without changing the amp and it is actually a tad weaker than the stock sub. I would guess this is from being under-driven?

I now want to add a small amp so that the sub actually hits.

My question is: Do I simply replace the stock amp with a new one? I assume using the factory wiring is bad? I only want to put a tiny sub in there.
Either this one:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...3PCA265&tp=115

Or this one:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...89AP400&tp=115

They are both 65X2 and one is 200x1 the other is 165x1. Will this be enough to power the sub? Do I need to power the other door speakers off the same amp, or are they already good to go?

I hate electronics and wiring so if you feel like helping me out, put it in laymans terms lol!

Thanks in advance guys!
Mike

I also would consider any amp up to 100 bucks. I would guess the more power the more of a need for a really good stereo wire kit? If its at all possible to use the stock wiring that would be great. If its not an option I guess it will have to be worked around!

you're probably going to want to upgrade the power / ground wires to the amp - well, you're going to need to as the factory harness plug wont work on an aftermarket amp w/o cutting anyway.

How hard of an install is it to run new wires and hook up a new amp?

I am not so great with electronics/wiring but if its simple and routing the wires is not too hard I will save the money over having the local audio shop install it!

Thanks

In my car I cut out the factory box to fit a 10 inch infinity kappa sub and I have a jbl amp that is under the passenge seat. When I bought the car the wiring was already run (there was a crappy amp there and a crappy sub in the stock box) I don't know how hard the wiring would be because I didnt do it, but the wires come from the head unit and go under the carpet on the passenger side and then come up through holes in the carpet under the passenger seat (the holes are there from the factory). From the amp I don't really know where they ran the wires, but they go back under the carpet and behind panels I presume to the sub. It seems like the hardest part about running the wires would be removing and re-installing whatever you need to to run the wires. And as far as hooking everything up I'm sure you could find any info you need on here, people are friendly, knowledgable, and willing to help.

this is the amp, just so you can see where it is

and what I did to mount the sub(I had to get a thick piece of wood and screw it on because the box wasn't deep enough for the sub)

hope it helped...
