i think you can its just unsafe unless they made something recently?

say you leave your car in gear one night and forget and then you start your car and it jumps a foot inside your garage or in a parking lot and you hit another car im sure theres some kind of liability issues

How about a switch somewhere? One that is connected to the alarm cable that usually goes to the neutral/park switch on the tranny (it would create the circuit the alarm is looking for to remote start). Then have it under the dash or something, and ONLY push it once you were sure car was in neutral.

It's just one extra thing to make sure you don't leave it in gear.

Do you have the Viper install manual??
It's fairly straight forward...1 lead to ACC, another to IGN and another to the starter. All the wires are under the steering column...

Go check out http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/ for lots more info....

I went though the same dilemma with my old ride. no one wanted to install a remote start in a manual car, they didn't want the liability in case i remote started at the same time someone walked across the front of the car and I left it in gear. Also, keep in mind if you have the PATS you will need an extra key or the learning module which will cost you about 40 bux more. Good Luck!

I have one on mine and the easiest way to help is to hook the neutral safety switch wire up to the ebrake. then at least the car will just hop if its in gear. antoher way is to put a tilt switch on the gear shifter. it would take 2 to do it right.

Several remote start / alarm units will work safely with an MTX equipped car. If your unit is not specifically designed to work with an MTX, I would advise to not enable it to remote start your car.

MTX capable remote starts typically require you to set the parking brake, take your foot off the clutch and the brake pedals, remove the key (engine remains running) get out of the car and shut the door. Once all the doors are shut the engine will stop and the unit is in a so called "reservation mode". In reservation mode the unit will allow the car to be remote started. Opening a door will take it out of reservation mode however and it will not allow a remote start until you put it through another correct shutdown sequence.
