I'm a new member here, and even though this is an old post, I figured I'd reply anyway. I don't know much at all about cars, and what I do know is very limited. This How-To was so easy to follow and damn near impossible to mess up. I have a 2002 Midnight Blue ZX3 and I started painting interior trim pieces yesterday, even though it's snowing and it's cold as balls... so far I have only the vent rings done, but I'm hoping to get the radio bezel, gauge bezel, and center console done before the end of this week. If I get a hold of a digital camera, I'll post some pics of what I have done. Thanks again for the great info and instructions.

Hey guys...

Here's a pic of the vent trim rings... I took it on a camera phone, so it's a little crappy looking...

I wonder if anyone here (who knows how to do this properly) is willing to make a small profit from painting interior parts... It sound like BloxZX3 and others have put in their 2¢ enough for me to rather have them do the job over any body shop..

Are there any tips for removing various interior parts? I tried searching but everyone says they all just pop out.. But I remember having a bear of a time getting stuff off. Right now I'm only looking replacing the gauge panel and the interior door handle trim piece. thanks!

Shoot me a PM with whatever you wanna remove in your interior and I'll guide you through it step by step, shik. I've seriously had everything out of my car so I'm a bit of an expert

don't rip on blox because he did it the right way, put the work into this, and shared his knowledge with everyone else. i'm painting my interior pieces this month, and i'm doing it his way even if it is more expensive than krylon. i'd rather not have paint flakes all over my car.
Couldn't help but notice you all raggin on 2xtremefocus, because He suggested using a different paint...personally sounds like a pride issue to me.

I was curious, the other dude said it was the cheap and easy way out. Does that means its just as effective? but not as much money or laboring?

SEM is the best out of a can generic you can buy in my opinion, then VHT. I use SEM for anything that i dont use the gun on. It works great. Also good write up, although i feel wetsanding primer is not needed, just sand it with some 600 and itll be smooth.

Yo,

great writeup and ima let you finish. But if you are using dishwashing soap, be careful and READ the ingredients to be sure that it does NOT have Lanolin in it, because that leaves a wax behind. go buy panel prep from any shop supply store for cheap, and use that.

if I am bored, I could write a newer and better one from my series on 'body-shop employee/apprentice' DYI's.... lol.
