Default Power lock switches don't light up

Is this normal? I never bothered to wonder about it until I started researching changing to colored LEDs. These are supposed to light up, right? Driver and passenger side are unlit at the moment.

I've never delved into that in my ZX3 since I have crank windows coupled with the factory power locks, maybe I'll give it a try someday

The plug for the windows might be there.

since ford didnt do it, there must be a reason to why. it makes no sense for them to just leave it out...
Does anyone know why or if anything bad could happen if i did go through with this mod??

maybe they found it distracting due to the locations in the Focus, but were using off the shelf power lock switches that already had leds in them.

I imagine they didn't do it because there's little need to use the lock/unlock switch. The door unlocks when you open it from the inside.

it shouldnt^^

unless it fries your CPU somehow.. or blows the motor somehow. Auto manufacturers are only allowed to void warranties on certain fixes if you added something that DIRECTLY caused the problem.

say your motor fries because you installed cam gears then tuned them wrong, not their fault, so warranty voided.

By the way, to answer this original question:

Foci with remote locks but not power windows DO NOT have the harness required to do this, I checked it out today and it does not exist, so we can not do this mod (unless you hook those wires to a + and - source somewhere else)

I think he is trying to get at that he doesnt have power windows, and still is going to try and get them to work.

if you want an easy arse answer, use the + and - battery terminals

I think it inherited wiring from euro foci that don't have a separate lock switch, but rather the moving switch like the one that exists on the NA focus acts as the lock/unlock switch and that is not illumiated on the european focus.

Does anyone know if the hatch release switch and/or the mirror switches can be made to light up, too?

Thats great! I just thought I did something wrong. I put blue LEDs in a long time ago, and those never worked....now I know!

no there is no led behind hatch release button and mirror button.
and there is no space to run power wire and run led..smd led might work if do midificatio nto the button..but it is not worth doing it..
