It is just like vinyl though ... it just LOOKS like carbon fiber which is completely not the point we are aiming at here. Mr. Zetec and others are interested in the real deal carbon fiber pieces for weight savings. By dipping your skins in that junk, you are adding weight, the opposite of what we are trying to do here.

No adding/less material = less weight.. That's what I'm saying.

there are plenty of CF how too's. really, you just need to take a door panel off, make a mold of it, usually cover it in ceran wrap, lay gel-coat over it to take the mold and then fiberglass over that. this will give you the negative you need.

then you remove it from the dp, and build a solid frame for it.

then you will apply a release agent to the mold and start laying up cf like a normal wet layup. if you want it to come out better you'll have a vacuum bagging system in place.

check out www.aircraftspruce.com for supplies and also some good books on the subject. google books might have some of them in their selection also.

Yes I could just remove them, but I have a special engine and I still wanted the show wow factor that carbon fiber gets

How much is 30+ pounds worth to you? I'm looking to drop 150 to 200 off of mine.

Got a first response

James,
I apologize if I did not respond in April...the NOPI shows make life kinda hectic!

I would love to make door skins for you and your friends. I would need at least 10 orders to make it cost effective. The price would most likely run around $1150 per set. Malibu Customz is set on making quality products.

Again, I apologize for the delayed response!
Thank you for your interest in Malibu Customz,
Michelle

If its all four panels, I think that is kind of ballpark. High ballpark, but not bad...I've heard of worse...

its sounds about right a friend of mine just spent about 20k getting his 350 Z done in full carbonfiber including a custom molded carbon fiber subwoofer enclosure for 4 8" subwoofers. but he has full carbon widebody now including doors, hood, hatch, fenders, and roof overlay.
