I might be retarted but im still not sure how the whole speedhut guage insert works...

It's a special type of material that glows when powered by their inverter. You do not use the stock lighting, only for the needles.

Oh, if you go to their site and customize a gauge you can hit view at night. It should give you a rough idea of how it will look.

They have a small inverter with it's own dimmer control. My ZX3 had a Speedhut overlay when I bought it, but I took it off because I prefer the green lighing at night to blue and red. Other than that I really liked them, very good quality too. I'd be getting another set at some point, but I'm happy with my $.90 homemade guage overlay.
