LCRacing a Michigan based company is looking for a couple teams to work with to offer technical support and a great deal on parts in other parts of the country. If you are in the process of starting your build and would be interested in being on the LCR team please email me you racing resume with your racing plans. If you are serious about winning there is not another shop that can offer the inside knowledge of the Spec Focus and that has 30 years of racing experience that LCR can supply.

Read through some of this stuff. Basically it will take you 1 to 2 years to get through the whole deal from the start.

HPDE1 - 2 - 3 events at least to get signed off to
HPDE2 - another 3 - 4 events to get signed off to
HPDE3 - another 2 - 4 events to get signed off to
HPDE4 - I guess once you are signed off here then you go to school.

I am still in HPDE 2

There are a lot of variables that go into how long it takes to get from one level to the next.

My experience has been all with NASA save for 1 weekend
I went from DE1 to 2 on my first day of track time.
Then IIRC to DE3 at the end of my 3rd or 4th day

After that I did 10 days (3 NASA events 1 non NASA) in DE3 and got signed to Group 4.

The jump from 1-2 is no big deal but the jump from 2-3 is a hefty one because there are some pretty advanced drivers in 3 and its agressively taught(at least in my region) Here is group 3 the leader starts off with open passing in the straights and in the corners with a point by.
Then the jump to group 4 is also big because it is completely open with no point bys and they expect you to be on your game with good awareness, good pedal skills, and car control skills, etc.

Here once you are in HPDE 3 you are eligible to take the competition school to get your Racing license and after that you can do whatever you want entry wise.

hope that all made sense.

One thing that you should consider before you get going on track time is tires. Do NOT start out on R compound tires. All they will do is mask your mistakes and hinder your driver improvement. Getting fast on street tires will make you faster on race tires in the end. Not to mention street tires last a lot longer and are cheaper.
Next season will be my first foray into the world of R compounds after about 20days of track time over 2 summers on street tires.
