Default Re: PWSC Idle kit?

I read on 1 of the threads that the my iac cant adjust fast enough esp with the ac on and thats why it drops the rpms so low and stalls or starts the jumping bean game.

is this a different IAC or just a secondary route of airflow to help it start adjusting sooner?

Try to give them a call...

If you mean the link to my post, the post is on page 2 of this thread. I dont know if they have a hold up on the final release of the kit or if there have been some changes, but I've had mine since August. I called them and asked for it, and they sent it right out to me. I think they might have changed a few things since then and one time I was speaking with steve from massive I believe he told me the kit was designed for non-SVT cars but I haven't really been following this. It worked fine on my SVT.

I'm not at all trying to come off as a 'know it all' because I'm far from that, but if some of you are having the stumbling issues discussed here I'd give them a call and ask because they are not giving any answers here and they're always very nice on the phone. If someone does call about this update this thread so everyone will have the updated info.

Just re-read my origional post, the next post asks about a included drill bit. The drill bit is for a hold you drill into the intake tube. The kit I got did not include this bit, I remember it being a strange size as I did not have it and just made due with 3/4 or something.

There was no other drilling or modification needed.

This is what it looks like (next to my 60lb injectors):

In talking to Karl he believes it will most likely require a re-tune. I haven't been able to get my car tuned yet to tell you how much better it is. From what TNSVTF says, it seems to remedy the problem.

Hmm Ive been told a retune with change the IAC responce time will correct it also so Im confused now as to weather its a physical problem or a tune problem

or both....either way a retune and a fix kit is a load of $$$

Ok this thread was very anti-climatic. The "hanging" revs is the only down side to the PWSC. Well, I guess I will have to live with it.

Basically the kits available any time. It works. It just seems that some cars will need a retune and some wont. So we didnt really want to release it until we did more testing and we jsut havent had the time.

I wish PowerWorks would have made a few different tunes with changes made to the Dashpot function only. Dashpot is the real culprit here. If adjusted properly it will allow very quick engine decel AND still have good idle recovery before the beast stalls.

This is what happens when you get a "one size fits all" tuning solution plain and simple. After spending a rediculous sum to have my XCal reset I plugged it into my PowerWorks flashed ECU and downloaded the "stock" programming. After screwing around in the ProRacer software for a few days I finally came up with a decent file that allowed very good low load street performance. I never finished the WOT work and as such I only babied the car around. After screwing with the Dashpot umpteen times I came up with a good solution that allowed for quick rev decel with solid idle recovery both with the AC on and without. This was all done the throttle body screw turned out so the TB plate was fully closed with the right foot off the accelerator (the way an IAC equipped car should be). It's worth noting that I never liked the original 850 RPM idle and bumped it up to an even 1000 RPM with AC off and 1100 with AC on which IMHO is what a small displacement I4 should have despite the very slight fuel consumption increase. I'm digressing bigtime here.

Massive's kit is certainly a great idea and, as it turns out, maybe the only real cost effective solution now that PW is essentially belly up. But as we've seen with PW's tune and Massive's experience with their kit, one size definitely does not fit all. It doesn't surprise me at all that some cars will need new tunes with the kit installed and some cars won't. I applaud Massive for their effort and support of such a small niche in the automotive industry but it really ticks me off that their kit had to be created to band-aid a problem that should have been addressed by the blower manufacturer in the first place. $5000 (which is a lot of cash for some of us) should have purchased better tuning or at least access to the tune file for personal manipulation.

Yeah don't be afraid of the Mustang guys that deal with SCT. Even though you don't have a V8, an experienced Mustang shop that tunes cars with SCT stuff should still be able to do a good job on your SVT. I've found SCT guys that tune Stangs are MUCH more common than SCT guys that tune Foci. My local SCT dealer gave me a lot of help in only a few minutes over the phone and he's never touched an SVTF.

I'll definitely be hitting him up in person later on down the road.
