what is the difference between the 00-04 and the 05-07 svt brake kits beside the couple hundred bucks?

I belive the older kit has the spindles and knuckles, that are required, i think that is the reason for the price difference.
someone more knowledgeable will respond, im sure.

it is basically the same kit.
but you need the SVT knuckles and spindles, which I think the 05+ already come with (not positive) and that is the main difference. Everything else, calipers, rotors, pads, etc are the same.

Correct. The 2005-2007 have SVT-style knuckles, and the brakes bolt right to them. 2000-2004 have incompatible knuckles, and thus have to be replaced so the calipers can bolt on.

to add-on to the question, does the rear kit come with everything you need to install on the rearend and also hook up to the stock front ones?

The"big" SVT kit that includes the rears, as Bryan states, does indeed include everything.

I'm not really sure about the front stuff being "SVT compatible" but it would appear that way. I haven't acutally tried that new 05-07 front kit yet.
I'm going to check out the situation tomorrow AM first hand. I'll post pics with my findings.

Yup. 05-07 spindles ARE SVT caliper compatible. They would not be able to be fitted to an 00-04 car though as the ball joint opening is a different size.

could you do a convert? to adapt the the larger ball joint and would there be a plus side to doing it.

Ford makes the ball joint as one piece. Its riveted on. Ford would tell you that you'd have to replace the entire control arm to do the job, and thats true, but companies like Moog have come out with kits that allow you to drill out the rivets and bolt on a replacement (they are greasable too!!). Unfortunately, these kits are only available for 00-04 cars at this time, so if you had 05 spindles, you'd need to buy 05 control arms from Ford to get the job done. They run about $85 IIRC.

They did. But the SVT brake kit is easily adaptable to the 05 + spindle.

humm. i'm pretty impressed. but on a side note is there any actual advantages to upgrading the ball joint.

That hasnt really been proven...
I will say that Focus ball joints do tend to go out alot, and replacing them with the Moog I imagine would yield superior performance and greater longevity if they are maintained.

i know the SVT knuckle is alot beefer then the non svt 04 and 05 knuckles too. there is alot more metal to the knuckle as a whole which might be better suited for track/autox.
