Default How do you pronounce \"Bilstein?\"

I told some friends that I'm going to order the Bilstein suspension kit, and they immediately corrected my pronunciation. I think the i at the end is pronounced and the e is silent - like Ben Stein . It really doesn't matter, but I would like to set them straight.

Edited: I got the i and e backwards. I think the e is silent.

some say "steen" others say "stine"..........either way you have a kick-ass, brutally tough mono-tube damper, so you can call mine "Shirley" for all I care.....

    Ja, Ja, Natürlich

But I'm shure that combination of "st" (from stein) should be pronounsed like "sht", and l (from bil) should be a voiced consonant In German, of course.

It has been a long time, but I believe that in proper german, because it is the middle of a word, it will be pronounced as st, and not sht. OTOH what do I know, I only speak Schwaebisch. Help me I've fallen and I can't find my Umlaut.

Damn Shifty, I bet you weren't looking for all this were you?

Hmmm, two years in Germany and all I can remember is "Vo ist der poof?"

I could swear when I called Bilstein sometime back to ask about the PSS9s that took FOREVER to materialize, they answered the phone "Bill Stine" - not that that necessarly means anything I guess.

You are right - exaple is "Fenster" - window

But it should be pronounced as "sht" if it stay at beginning of the root (radical) even in the middle of the word - expample "spielen - verspielen"

In our case word Bil_stein (Franken_stein, Ein_stein, Ramm_stein ) definitely consist of two roots (radicals) - so it is "sht"

Sorry for my english, I'm russian
