The focus i am taking the airbags out of is actually just a show car and it is almost never driven. I replaced the steering wheel with a momo steering wheel, then decided to sell the airbags because i am looking into buying the tsunami front bumper. how can i get to the module? by center console, you mean like where the radio is or like where the emergency brake is.

I believe it's near the e-brake handle, under the plastic console. I could be wrong though. As for the AirBag light, gotta take apart the cluster and pull the bulb, as I think even with the controller removed, the light will stay on. I could be wrong though.

the light isn't as easy as removing a bulb, you have to take the cluster apart and cut/desolder the LED.

It is under the cup holder cluster between the front seats, between the shift lever and the e-brake.

Well took everything out and it was right between the shifter and the e-brake. THANKS GUYS!!! And i might have to just put tape over light. At least now I can get all the interior pieces painted before i put them back in

Digging up a way-old thread here as it seems to answer my question best. The only thing I'm wondering is whether this location still holds true for a 2005. I've learned that the 2005-07 has a different airbag control module (RCM), so I thought it would be worth verifying that the location didn't move.

Any tips on removing the center console? I only found one post indicating that it was "really difficult".

The center console on the floor is easy to remove, are you thinking of the center console on the dash as in this http://forums.focaljet.com/mk-i-inte...r-console.html ?

Okay, thanks - haven't even given it a glance yet, so good to know it won't be difficult.
