Thanks, Ted - didn't mean to rush you.
The engine claim rule is a doozy and represents the ONLY way that costs might actually be contained by racing rules. Regulations that are supposed to indirectly control spending are a dream. The claim rule gives organizers a powerful tool to wield if they decide to but, since a crate motor is only ~$2600 even a slight chance of enforcement provides a strong disincentive to build a "real" engine. Looking for clarification on the front fascia rule. It states you can use the SVT front, FRPP front, or the F2 front. What exactly does it mean by FRPP front? I would imagine that I cannot use the WRC front. Even though it was in the catalog, it has a sort of diffuser built in. I would change it for racing anyways, it weighs a TON! just thought I would ask. Thanks.

You are correct, you can't us the WRC front from FRPP... You can only use OEM, SVT or RS type front ends, and or body kits. Splitters are not allowed and adjustable wings cannot be used.

Hey it "just works" in Firefox on my PC too
Good job with rules they look like you can build a car relatively cheap. And the motor claim rule is a big stick to wave at people who want to spend to win. I am not a huge fan of the no antifreeze rule this means a lot of coolant draining and refilling for those that want a multi purpose car or live anywhere it gets below 32 degrees. Is this a common road racing rule?

Hey Guys, This is only my input.
I just really ask myself why some people are so quick to degrade a Series for our Focus. No one has made this series mandatory for any of you to put your Focus on a track. There are other events that you can attend, you have a choice and be greatfull we have them, some makes and model of cars do not. I'm sure they would love to see every Focus registered in the US show up but I think they know better. A lot of good people and companies have put there time, personal funds, and there are shops and businesses including myself to give us all another organized arena to enjoy our passions. How do you think they feel about the time and money they invested when they read some of these post? The old saying "Rome was not built in a day" I'm 100% sure that when issues arise as we start racing the Spec Focus NASA will continue to work with its members to make it a enjoyable series. I'm sure Ted appreciates your input but I know to continually trash him and find problems is not helping anyone. Offer some input with suggested fixes I am sure that they would appreciate that. Help don’t Hinder Again this is only my 2 cents Last edited by 68 Touring Car; 01-18-2006 at 12:45 PM. |

Well Said, Leo.
MOST people here have just been asking for clarifications, but we will always have some who complain. Your request to minimize that complaining, and to realize how much effort has been put forth is commendable, and everyone should take it to heart. As the Series was initially proposed, I had/have my opinions on some Suspension ideas, BUT, I also understand that there are MANY dynamics at play here, such as Sponsorship and Support, and I personally accept the fact that this is a Done deal, therefore, not only am I Happy that it's coming to fruition, but I accept that the rules are no longer something to debate until it is seen how things work out "In the Real World". While the Focus has more potential to unlock than these rules allow for, that IS NOT THE POINT of THIS Series. Ted has alluded to a "Cup" Series which, if it happens, will allow for a much faster car, and "Spec Focus"'s will likely be easily upgraded if someone later chooses to run in a "Hotter" Series. For now, AT LEAST there IS a Series, and we should All Row Together to Support it.

Ok, I didn't realize about the coolant on track being that bad. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't mean that as dig on the rules, just coming from a rally background I had not seen a rule like that before.

I think the official announcement of the series has maybe finally gotten people to see that NASA is indeed serious about it.
Focaljet (and I personally) are big supporters of the idea and I expect our announcement that we have teamed with NASA to promote the series will let people understand that this forum will be used to add momentum to the series. The rules have been set. So, there is no need to argue them at this point. While spirited debate will be allowed, a certain amount of respect towards the series and those connected to it will be the order of the day. We will easily ban people from this particular forum if they habitually have nothing but negative comments. Not that I think there are any particular issues. I just know that there were some in the past. I agree that most of the nay-sayers have come around to at least adopting a wait and see attitude. I just wanted to set the tone from here on out. Thanks for listening.

Why does SF seem to be invisible in the rest of NASA's online presence? There's a big hoo-hah about the new Performance Touring thing but I haven't seen anything about the Foci.

But you can see it’s on the main site. http://www.nasaproracing.com/proracing/index.html http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules.html Now the main reason you’re not seeing a lot on the NASA board, is not a lot NASA members have a Focus to race. But PT is open to all cars, so, it’s going to get a lot of buzz.
