Default Weight Reduction

Ted, Tophe, and anyone else who has completely Gutted a Focus for Competition...
I'm curious to know your starting weight, finished weight, and if possible, PLEASE itemize what you removed and the estimated weight of each thing removed.
Obviously the seat is replaced, but I'm curious to know how much the stock ones weigh vs the replacements.
Obviously a cage adds weight back to the car... How much?
Thanks for the info and insight.

I can say that a 2005 ZX-4 with the all interior removed the AC compressor, condenser and lines to fire wall removed all 4 side windows and regulators out everything cleaned out of the trunk. We added 1 recaro race seat, roll cage with a 1/4 tank of fuel was about 2475 less any driver.

My car has just about everything removed. Heater core, windows, A/C and etc. My ZX3 weighs 2271 less driver.

----added---------

Of course I have to add some ballast to the car to make weight.

IIRC the weight minimum for SF is 2600 w/ driver however?

Well, I don't know the starting weight of either of those vehicles.
What I'm most curious about is how much each thing removed weighs, in addition to the overall weight loss.

The OEM Curb Weight for a 2001 ZX3 is 2551. I believe the newier cars and sedans are heavier.

We wanted the weight for the SF to be 2500lbs with driver, but we found that we can't get the sedan down to that weight without doing a lot too it. So, just two weeks ago we changed it to 2600lbs w/driver. Which will cause me to put a 100+lbs of ballast in the car.

So Ted, you've removed about 280 lbs.
Any idea what each item removed weighed?

I didn't make the car. The car was made by Andrew. He might know more. If I was to do it myself, I might not take as much out, but it's good that it's light because I can use ballast now to balance the car some.

Michael, if you're curious CTZX3 has probably done more 'weight reduction' on a ZX3 than anybody else I know of. He used to have some of the info on his website but it appears to be gone. Perhaps you might ask him if he still has it?

From what I remember, he weighed just about every single thing he removed from the car...and he removed allot from the car.

Raffi from FocusSport told me that by gutting the interior their '00 ZX3 they saved 400lbs. IIRC they just yanked all the seats and carpet and door trim and added a Corbeau seat in place.

So carpet, back seat, passenger's seat, and half a driver's seat, plus door trim = Over 350 lbs?

Sorry, haven't had time to weigh the stuff yet. I'm running out of time as it is, but I will try my best to keep you all informed.

I do know that the console that I just sold weighed ~15lbs.

I used my bathroom scale and got 40+ lbs per seat (driver/passanger). Mind you I dont know how accurate my old scale is.
