Does anyone know if the Ford Racing header is the same thing as the SVT header?
Does F2 make a header for the Zetec?

The Zetec can use any header. FRPP has a couple headers for the Zetec. F2 is making headers for the Zetec and will be for sale soon.

Wait... ANY header? And the exhaust is open, right? So would the side-exit header I dreampt up be legal?

Sure, Now each track has different sound regulations. So, make sure you know what the max sound for each track you’re running out. We’re lucky here in SoCal because there’s no sound limit at Cal-Speedway, Buttonwillow, Willow Springs or Vegas. NorCal has Sound Regulations at all of their tracks. I would still think it’s better to have the tailpipe coming out the side behind the driver, rather then in front. There's nothing like the sound of a Non-Muffle Duratec. ![]()

Why not just mount the header upsidown and run it right up through a hole in the hood?

How did I miss that? The rules I downloaded state this.... 11.12 Exhaust Manifold/Intake Manifold Non-SVT Zetec and Duratec engines may use Ford Racing or F2 Exhaust manifolds. Any exhaust pipe may be used. Since it doesn't say Zetec can use any header can they really? Do I have old rules? Mine are Ver 1.6.1 25/1/2006, probably old. This begs the question, which is the best header to run? I plan on keeping my bosal exhaust in case I have to give ride along's to my student, so I'll give up a couple HP's.

Well, if it doesn't state it in the rules, it's good to ask. Normally if it isn't in the rules, it's not allowed. But since the rules only talked about headers for SVT's and Duratecs....then that would leave the Zetecs open. Now, this brings up something that is in the rules that is important. That is Rule #4 Format. 4 Format Modifications, addition or removal of parts are not allowed, unless specified or approved in these rules. Additional modifications are not permitted. These rules are not intended as guidelines; rather they shall serve as the national set of rules, and must be strictly followed. Each NASA Region is responsible for ensuring that all competitors running in the corresponding regional championship conform to these rules. It is important that if anyone doesn't see it in the rules.... Please ask first.

..... As I read the rules, it only talks about NON SVT Zetec's and Duratecs.

It's a tossup between the SVT and the FS. SVT has an extra HP or two, but the FS is a snap to install.

Will I need a new Flexpipe and exhaust if I go with the SVT?

Exhaust, no. You'd need the SVT header and cat (or ORP) to bolt to whatever exhaust you have, IIRC.
