Default GRM looking forward to our first Spec Focus race

Hello everyone, this is Scott at Grassroots Motorsports magazine, and we're looking forward to joining you guys at the NASA Championships. Ford Racing and NASA want us to get a first-hand look at Spec Focus, so I'll be driving the No. 67 black four-door at the event. It's my first year racing, and I've been campaigning our Project 2002 Honda Civic Si in Honda Challenge; from what I understand Spec Focus uses a standing start (like HC), so no changes there. Anything else a newcomer needs to know?

Yeah, you’re not allowed to pass the Spec Focus Director. j/k

I can’t think of anything right off hand. We’re all going to be pitted in the same area, and will be able to share info. But, if you have any questions at all please let me or Leo know and we’ll be sure to answer it.

But, we’re very glad to have you out and run one of our little Spec Cars. I hope you really enjoy it. Welcome aboard.

I know this is your first year of racing, are you still on Rookie status??? If so, we want to make sure that Leo marks the car correctly. But the most important part is to just have FUN!!!

Thanks for the welcome, I'm really looking forward to it. No promises about passing

As for rookie status, I filled my rookie book and have recieved my Competition License hard card, but I wouldn't take any offense whatsoever if you'd like to put rookie livery on the car; I've met many very experienced racers working at GRM, enough to know that I'm not one of them (yet).

I was going to post "where is my latest copy of GRM?!?!", then I looked in the mail.

Good luck on the run!

Yeah once you get your Comp License you still have Rookie status for 4 more races (total 8 races). Now Fridays and Saturday Qualifying races count as one race each day... plus one more for the Championship Race.

If you have done 6 races.... and race both Fri and Sat at Nationals... you can take off the "R's" for the Championship race.

Scott,
Since we are now teammates and you are doing things legal I'll put the required "R" on the #68 also. 8 races?? I did not realize that I still had rookie status.......

I'd just like to add that GRM is by far the best magazine I've ever read.

Very True!!!!! I remember getting it years ago and it was just a thin magazine...Now it's grown soo much. It's the best Grassroots Magazine out there.

I can't live with out it.

Probably best to put the rookie status on the car. Besides, my mom saw the orange Rs on the side of the Civic and thought it was a reference to my Integra Type R; perhaps Rs on the Focus will make me feel more at home

Strange, we have a Scott Laird here on the west coast that also drives a Focus. I know it's a different spelling, but close enough. http://www.teamhaggisracing.com/ I ran with another Focus driver out here by the name of Chris Grout, my name is Chris Stout....THAT got confusing!

Welcome! I'm so glad that GRM has decided to start covering some of the Spec Focus stuff. And I'm sure that you will also want to start covering the Spec Focus Rally as well!

I'm still a wanna be trackrat, but it'll happen someday.

Thank you guys for the kind comments on the magazine, it really makes the rush before a deadline worth it.

I just picked up the big GRM decals for the side of the Focus from Hawkeye, so it should be pretty obvious to everyone else who the oaf behind the wheel is.

That's good news, Scott. It will be good to see that.

Now, All we need it to have a Big FocalJet Sticker on a SF, Ron?
