Default Spec Focus Rally - Positive first look

My favorite mechanic Cameron Conover is building his first SFR gearbox and his quote today was, "if the rest of a Focus is as easy to work on as the transmission, we gotta get us one." The parts from Ford racing were affordable, and they look to be pretty stoutly built.

The dealer didn't mention that there are two different P/Ns for one of the bearings - and of course, he provided the wrong one - so it's slowed up waiting for the new part, but its fun to be part of the new thing.

Somebody - let us build a whole car for you.

Just to followup on this post: It was my transaxle that Cameron
was working on and it seems to be working just fine. Haven't stressed it yet - we're still building. The cage is done and getting painted this week. We did hit a snag with the clutch that maybe all you experts here already knew about: we overlooked bench bleeding the new slave cylinder and it was dry when we put everything back together. Had the devil of a time bleeding the damn thing - air kept getting into the system somehow. It was only after several frsutrating hours that we discovered the clutch line would draw air from the reservoir even when the fluid was well above the Min level. Once we started keeping the reservoir overfilled it went realtively smoothly. We now have a running Focus again.

Well, "running" is a bit of a generous term. It's running rough and I have no power to the brakes so I may have missed a vacuum boost or something. Didn't have time to investigate. Any suggestions as to what I sould look for when I get the car back from cage painting?

Thanks.
