Default Spec Focus questions...

In trying to understand what I'm getting into with SF, I've been doing some research and it's left me with a few questions. Maybe some of this info is still being put together...

1. 2007 is almost here - Are there any updates/changes on sponsors for '07?

2. The SF series is divided into regions which seems really cool, but looking at the National Championships last year there were only four cars. If I'm racing in the Phoenix region with it's six or seven event dates...I'll surely be the only SF right?

3. Even if there were another car or two, how do we tabulate the SF series standings on a national level with several cars from several different regions all on different tracks? Is there just a bunch of regional winners and then the Nationals to really define the SF winner as a whole?

4. Seeing as how I've only ever done autocross, time trials, and Focus Challenge events, should I just try to run NASA events with my own car to get the experience that is required or can I go right into the SF series?

I'll probably have more questions later, but I need to get some things cleared up so that I know what I'm getting into...thanks in advance.

1. I don’t expect any major rule changes for 2007.

2. I believe there’s 2 or 3 cars in Phoenix being built right now. Plus the option of SoCal cars going to Arizona and Arizona cars coming to SoCal which happens a lot.

3. NASA Nationals is not like the Run-Offs. Anyone can sign-up for Nationals no matter what position in the standing they are. You must meet the minimal 5 races before Nationals.
Requirements to participate in NASA Championships: The driver must earn points in at least five official races (not weekends). You may run one or more classes to earn points.
NOTE: Once minimum qualifications are earned, drivers may compete in multiple classes at the National Championships.

4. Yes, It’s best to start doing NASA events if you plan to race with NASA. Do some HPDE and TT events before taking your race school and getting you license.
