Unser to Race SF in 25 Hour Race - Focaljet

Evans Racing #2 Spec Focus will be running in this years 25 hours of Thunderhill. This will be the first time a Spec Focus has ran in this event.

The car is a 2001 ZX3 Zetec Spec Focus. The car is rated at 160whp, and weighs a min 2600lbs with drivers. The car will be competiting in Endurance 2 Class (E2) against other small-bore NASA Race cars.

The race will start on Saturday December 2nd.

Evans Racing is based out of Fairfield, California. This is the first of several SF cars that Evans Racings plans to race in 2007

Ted the race is this weekend not next weekend. And that was the F2 Spec focus car that is racing the 25 hour race. Good luck Evans Racing...a great bunch of guys

only 160 whp, guess thats alot for a zetec engine

Most of the motors should be around 160whp. At Mid-Ohio we had the Duratecs at 149whp, a Zetec at 139 WHP and a ZVT at 138wph. But, all cars had room to improve in the motor department.

I hope it does as well... But technically it's not a Spec Focus Race, It only has to be in Spec Form Mechanically not Appearance wise to run in E2 Class. But, next year he should have the recuired decals on all his Spec Focus.

Evans Racing are really good at working on Zetec Motors. They been running them for years in Formula Cars and Super 7s. The turned this Zetec motor from 139whp to 160whp by just changing the injectors and ECU Tune.

The car finished 15th in E2 and did about 250 laps before the stub hub broke and destroyed the axle. Luckily the wheel didn't come off and the car just skidded out of turn 12. Evans racing had no spare for this. A EVO had the same problem but the car rolled.

The car was changed from SF to ITA car. Because of sponsorships with Tire Rack they used Avon Tires, and they used Vogtland Coilovers.

Bummer about the hub failure, but great that it was out there running for sure!

Yes, It was the car I used last year. When I had it... it was Dyno at 138hp at Mid-Ohio.... But these guys changed the injectors, added adjustable cams... and tuned it and got to 160. They work on Zetec motors all time in their Super 7s.

You're right, 160 in a light weight race car is a lot of HP.
