thanks for posting your pics. i'm in the middle of my spec focus build also. i had a question about your cage.

is your diagonal brace welded to the main roll hoop on the passenger side floor? it looks like its just welded to the mounting plate.

WOW! That head is gorgeous! Stage 3 cams I assume?

Are you just fitting everything and then going back and painting the roll cage? Or just leaving it bare metal?

And are you taking the tranny to a shop so they can install the Torsen? Quaiffe? (Not sure which LSD that is) and install the new final drive? Did you go with the 4.06?

The adjustable sub-frame is nice too!

Good luck finishing it up!

Torsen 4.06 gears, I plan to put them in myself unless I run into too many problems, I should be fine though

I've never seen inside a Focus tranny before, is this all of it or just one side? The biggest gear on the bottom is the differential and where does the new final drive go?

I guess I could do a search for this, but I'm feeling lazy.

^will do ted

Silonius, when I figure out how to take all that crap out of the tranny Ill be able to explain it better, Ill be sure to get pics for ya
the big gear on the bottom is part of the final drive "kit", the other part goes in the middle I think. in the picture you can see the bellhousing I guess its called off to the right, the other half or cover of the tranny where the clutch goes

So I went and looked at it more closely and it is welded to the main hoop and the plate.
just the side of the bar is welded to the main hoop

So I got the bushing kit I needed and have pressed most of them in. Im glad I have access to a very sweet press and other special tools I might need at work . I still have to burn out the trailing arm bushings and put the new ones in, Im not looking foreward to that...

I broke a part of one of the front lower control arms and had to get a new one. Ill get a picture to better explain it.

I have assemled the front suspension with the LCR camber plates but haven't installed it yet because I haven't even started on the brakes really.

I STILL DONT HAVE THE ENGINE , hes still waiting on the pistons. Its hard to find stock weight and shape aftermarket pistons so he had to special order them. Oh well, Im not really ready to put it in anyway but it will be nice motivation just having it there and Ill be able to start assemling the top end.

Ive been pretty busy the last few weeks so I should be picking up the pace with this build and this thread so expect more updates soon!

Holy crap...I had no idea there was so much involved with Spec'n a Focus. I guess I'm happy I'd be starting with an SVT, oh and most importantly not looking to be terribly competitive...

It doesn't have to be this involved. Minimum requirements are safety equipment. Remove enough interior to install cage and a few other goodies, get required personal safety pieces, and drop the hammer. This direction on the other hand, is much more race-car oriented. I can't wait until I am getting the cashflow to support this type of habit, or hobby, etc. Build looks like a blast

Yeah this will probably end up more "race prepped" than Leos cars or most others Ive seen. It will be dedicated to SF with a trailor and not ever driven on the street(ok maybe a little).

Ive been so busy, Its eating me alive seeing this thing just sit when there is so much to be done. I'm finally free this weekend and next saturday so I should get a pretty good amount done. If anyone wants to come by and turn a wrench just let me know, Id be glad to have you and there would most likely be pizza involved.

Edit: I STILL DONT HAVE THE ENGINE. The builder (Hawaii Racing) STILL doesn't have the rods.
