Default Dynamic Suspension Discontinued

Just to let everyone know, The Dynamic Suspension has been discontinued by Ford Racing because of a leak issue and not being serviceable. . Ford Racing is currently out of stock, but some kits can still be found at FRPP dealers.

NASA is currently looking for a replacement for the Dynamics for the Spec Series. Ford Racing did there own independent test this past week and NASA with the help of F2 will be testing a another suspension at Buttonwillow on June 9-10, 2007. We also have data on another Suspension test we did last August at Willow Springs when NASA became aware of leaks that had developed from the Dynamic Suspension a year ago.

We hope to list a replacement for the Dynamic Suspension following our tests.

What a coincidence. Mine are doing that now.

They lasted almost 13 months before they pooped their pants.

Though Koni has not been approved by NASA for SpecF, it should be. Koni are an international standard.

That is freakin spectacular. Is there any recourse on the consumers part if the rear shocks go to crap in xx number of months after installation? Hopefully someone does their homework next time they decide to spec a suspension kit for a race series and recommend it to the general public as daily-driver friendly. What would you recommend to replace them with should anything go wrong? Nate

When was general public going to be informed of these leaks? If you couldn't tell, I am more than pissed off right now. Nate

I don't know. You would have to check with FRPP.

Ford Racing parts carry a 12 month warranty IIRC... so if they blow in that period... you SHOULD be able to get your money back from your FRPP dealer.

I hope Mr. Tousley is ready for this debacle. I will have to keep a close eye on those rear shocks. I am planning on installing the proper lower control arm bushings (I think those are the ones) at some point so I will check them then. Nate

If yours leacking right now?? you have 12 month of warranty. If it were start to leack you can use KYB $63 each or Koni $120 each. which is not bad.

No, I don't think they are leaking right now. I still have about 6-8 months left on the warranty if it is in fact 12 months. I'm really not all that worried about it as I purchased the kit for $250 when Ford accidentally discontinued it the first time. I just hate it when companies think they can hide the truth by discontinuing a part/product. If Ford knew about these leaks a year ago, they they knowingly sold numerous faulty suspension kits to unsuspecting race car drivers and regular consumers. If they want to make things right, they should just issue a recall and replace the defective parts with something of similar quality. That's just my .02. I hope this is resolved in short order for the sake of the racers that are probably freaking out over whether or not their suspension is going to keep them on track. Nate

Its Ford. Its love it and hate it relationship.

yeah i know what you mean but you shouldn't be very mad cause you go yours at a very good price.

IMHO if you had problem just replace the rear with koni's. it would be better cause you would have some adjust ability also.

They don't just leak. At least mine didn't. I know what a blown shock feels like. Plus I'm screwed anyway because I bought them secondhand (but uninstalled) last May.

Some KYB AGXs will go in on all 4 corners soon.

It's pretty lame that Ford discontinued them months ago and I find out this is a known problem because I happen to look in the SF forum.

Got mine last November. No problems yet but after reading this I'll be sure to keep an eye out.

Wonder what Ford Racing will do for a replacement for ones that fail while still under warranty? Anyone got an official word yet?

Fellow Focus owners just to clarify the discussion, As far a customer that might have purched Multimatic suspension there is only a limited number of failures. If you happen to be one of the unforgent customers that have a rear shock leak contact FRPP tech line or your FRPP dealer. FRPP has allways backed there products and these shocks since they have sold them.

and the only reason why he's upset is he didn't get them from a FRPP dealer. Everyone else should have no problem returning them to FRPP.

Don't get me wrong, I love the suspension kit. I am just upset that Ford tried to brush this issue under the rug for a year while they were still selling the kits. Imagine what would have happpend if Ford had know about the Firestone issue for a year and didn't do anything about it. The stuff would have hit the fan even more than it did. Nate
