Car is at the cage builder - Virginia's newest SF car - Focaljet

After many trials and tribulations (try getting a car with a California salvage title to Virginia, and getting it titled, registered, and all that jazz!), the interior came out and the car was delievered to the cage builder this morning - Piper Motorsports for those of you on the east coast.

As of next wednesday when the cage is complete, I'll transplant over the seats, harnesses, and quick release wheel from my 944, get the car aligned, and voila! I'm set to race!

Already registered for the Nasa Mid-Atlantic race in July at VIR, and will try to make the Mid-O race in August where it sounds like there will be some other Foci running, which will complete my 5 race requirement for the nationals. Then, finances and spousal approval willing, I'll be running the nationals!

Forgot to take pictures last night when the who interior was piled next to the car, but it's on '05 ZX4 PZEV with the 2.3 engine. Car had been lightly rolled, and then totalled out. Frame is completely straight, but was likely totaled as the "frame" member at the tob of the windshield was largely crushed had mostly pulled away from the roof unibody. Looks like it was pounded back into shape and tack welded by a body shop in Tijuana (not kidding), but from the exterior, it's virtually impossible to tell that the car has been damaged. A good dose of roll cage hoop will re-inforce the area, and it will be good to go!

I have the dynamic suspension already installed - I think I literally got the last one that FRRP had on the shelf, spec wheels and toyos are mounted. Just need to swap out the brake pads and SS lines, and add the exhaust header and kill switch, and it's complete!

This sure beats the insanity of $4k suspensions builds and $10k engine builds for what was a "spec" 944 Cup class in NASA and Porsche Club

Wow - just checked the NASA website. Ohio/indiana region races for 3 days for $169 at mid-ohio. That's the racing bargain of the year! Will try for the July event as my first event as that's so cheap to be virtually free!

That would be great if you could come to the July race at Mid-ohio. That would make 5 cars in Spec Focus. Jack Baruth, Chris Kinser, Tom Lyman, You and myself. I will have most all spare parts and have 2 crew if you run into a problem and need help. Keep me updated and if you want we should be able to pit close to one another in case you need some thing.

Leo - sounds great! I have been granted spousal approval for the trip, so if I can get the little details on the car set (most worried about the kill switch), and get work approval, then I'm in! It'll be the guerilla approach - throw the Toyo's in the back seat with a cooler and roll - and pray nothing breaks too badly. lol

Will know by Wednesday at the latest.

Good luck, I always liked Mid-O in my Focus.

In other news, the worlds SLOWEST Spec Focus build takes a turn for the better as I am picking up SVT wheels this weekend and am working on 205/40R17 RA-1's through the PaceCar deal.
