Default Duratec Kill Switch Wiring

Another in my series of endless posts today.

Anyone have any suggestion on kill switch wiring (i.e. what to wire where). With the coil on plug setup - where do you wire the switch? In other cars, I've gone to the coil and the fuel pump, but wouldn't know where to begin on these...

If anyone has pictures, that would be great, too as I'm certainly not a wiring diagram genius...

Fired up to race!

We've had a few guys who's had that same problem with the duratecs. But, I think Leo has done it right.

Bumping this to the top - can't find any info out on the net as to what people have done with other coil on plug cars, either.

Help.

You have to kill both battery and alternator.

We tie into the ignition power relay at the power distribution box so when you kill the current the ignition relay cuts out.

Thanks Leo - any chance you have a picture of how you did this - my skill at reading a wiring diagram are minimal. I am, however, good at cutting wires (inadvertantly, or vertantly).

Also, do you have a good source for switched 12v in the engine bay for wiring the transponder? I was thinking of the cruise control harness as it's "right there" but haven't experimented yet as to what's hot, etc.

The way it's schedule right now, we're going to be doing a standing start.

Yeah, we're schedule to do a standing start at Nationals. We were also schedule last year, but because they added the Legends in our run group last year they changed it.

We've already started to practice these starts in our regional races in NorCal and SoCal.

Okay just got the word, that Spec Focus will be doing a Standing Start and the Spec Neon and 944s will be doing a flying start.

Here's NASA's Standing Start Procedures: http://nasaofficials.com/Championships/

Thanks Leo. I'm up to 95% probability on the race. Lots of little things to do, but am feeling confident.
