Ryan Lapp 1:38.965 at Willow Springs
WTG Ryan. You were almost 4 seconds faster then Patrick's PTE Focus. Good Job.

^haha I dont know about crushing them all but we have already signed up for nats
![]() and yeah leo the other focus had a 2.3 with f2s modified racing head, H&R coilovers.. he said it put down 180hp "the SpecFocus Killer" I forget what tires he was running. I think we have a better overall setup though, and we have had more time to get the car really dialed in. 20 hp isnt so much its how you use it that countsalso he was having some electrical problems all weekend, his car died during saturdays warmup and they were about ready to call it a weekend

He was running the old SF tire. 205/40/17 RA1. The rears were converted to the F2 coilover setup. The car looked nice, but it needed a wash.

Leo,
The car was a 2.3L Duratec with a Mazda Block, F2 Head and a Coilover conversion, with RA-1 205/40x17. So, it's pretty much gone for SF. He ran it in PTE, but I don't know how it fell into PTE with the Engine Swap and the Mazda Block. He was having problems with tune on Saturday and reflashed back to a stock tune Sunday. It ran okay with the stock tune. But, like what Brad said it was his first race and we clocked him a good 10+ mph slower in turn 9 then Ryan was with the Radar Gun. So, I think he was having problems with handling as well. Ryan's car ran great. I think we have a good handle on the R888s now and the new springs helped a lot. There was a lot less roll in the car which helped Ryan a lot. But, like Ryan said... I think we have a better setup.

I believe NASA only runs the Main Course at Summit Point.

Ryan Lapp, 10/11/2008, Buttonwillow 13cw 2:11.219.
Ryan Lapp, 10/12/2008, Buttonwillow 13ccw 2:10.842. The weather was horrible. It got down to 50 at night, and only up to 70 during the day. When we were in the shade, we had to wear a light jacket .The car ran good. No overheating and he had 3rd gear . The power was a little less than normal, just needs a good dyno tune. I would bet that someone will break these records next year, by at least 1 second. |

Unfortunately, your record won't stand as it has to be in qualifying or the race

We haven't had anyone race in the South East yet. The best thing to do is look at the Spec Miata's and we should be right around those times. Fast tracks we'll be slightly faster, tighter track they'll be slightly faster.

Buttonwillow, #1 CW.
11/08/08 Practice 2:18.48, Qualifying 2:18.045, Race 2:18.205 11/09/08 Practice 2:17.512, Qualifying 2:15.750, Race DNS The last run (race) of the day, the car wouldn't start. Blown head gasket. The car has been lacking power and overheating for a while (since before nationals). I believe that the head gasket has been leaking, and finally went. Saturday Ryan qualified behind 4 Spec Miata's and ahead of 4. This is typical for the Focus. On Sunday, he qualified ahead of every Spec Miata. His qualifying time was 2.295 seconds faster than his Saturday best (why??). 2.295 seconds is a huge amount to cut. Setting track records is easy (when one hasen't been one set yet). |

I was only joking The engine always runs really well before it goes. That's where all the time came from. I guess I jinxed the situation.

Looking back on my notes Ryan, you ran a very good time. I know Andrew Gillis ran one of F2s Car last year in PTE which had a 2.3L Spec Legal motor, but it had Custom Coilovers and his best time was 2:19.439. So a 2:15 is great.
Also Dan Gardner ran a 2:15.858 in the same race last year in the very fast PTE Scion. Great Job!!!

Yes the car is fixed. It is on the dyno as I write this, and running great. No overheating.
We're heading up to Willow Springs tomorrow night. |

Was this Saturday last November? I can't remember. If so, I think the car ran a 2:14.399 in Qualifying. Even still, the car was very well sorted at the end of the year. Then we hacked it all up for Grand Am and PTC ![]()
