What spares would you recommend to bring out to the track (other than a complete spare car)? Obviously wheel bearings, tires, what else? Any recommendations?

What I have needed at the track most of the time has been....Front axles, Front hubs with spindles, front axle nuts. Of course pads and rotors just in case....but the first ones I have needed especially if you are on the curbs a lot. I have some of those parts if you need them let me know I can sell them too you cheap as spares!!!

bring whole hubs or spindles. you have to use a press to replace the bearings. i had a rear bearing go bad last year and luckily leo had a spare hub.

I try to carry a spare for every front suspension part to a rally. Including front brakes and pads. I have not built out my supply of rear parts yet but I am working on it.
I break or bend tie rods a lot so keep 2 of those with the car at all times. I also recommend taking a spare set of fluids you never know when you will need extra water or if you spill gear box fluid while changing an axle. |

If it is in the shop and it fits a Focus and we might need it goes in the trailer. If you run in the Midwest LCRacing brings a 44 ft support trailer with every suspension part every brake part most bolt on engine parts all fluids and some transmissions and if you need anything else including tools come see us. |

You guys are so lucky to have LC Racing in the Midwest. We'll have Wild Pony here in SoCal that is going to bring support here for all SF Racers as well. I'm working with them now to get everything setup for 2008. But, like what Chris said, it's important to bring extra hubs, bearing and axles. But, having the bearings already pressed into the hubs.

It sounds like we need to talk Leo into moving out to CA. Lets take up a collection.
By to look of the posts, the focus is on the front suspension. Is that a week point? For the rear, is having pads, disks, bearings and rotors sufficient? What about engine parts (water pump, PS pump). Are they fairly bulletproof? My plan: Nearly full front suspension. Rear - pads, disks, bearings, rotors. 4 spare wheels and tires. Timing and serpentine belt. Hoses. All fluids. Clutch? Many tools. Lots of Duct tape and bailing wire. For a local race, if the engine or trans was to go, that would be the weekend. Any other comments would be appreciated. Recardo, I will be calling you about the parts that you have. Mark |

Are you guys breaking stock wheel studs or the ARP ones? I am running the ARP studs on my rally car and they have held up really well so far.

It's been mainly the OEM style wheel studs and I broke a few before switching to ARP wheel studs.... It's pretty hard to break the ARP studs. But, I always figured it is a possiablity and extra wheel studs and nuts do not take up a lot of storage space. So, I always bring them.

Thanks for all of your input/advice. Some of this we do already have.
Shift tower; We bought a 1999 Mercury Mystique shifter. It is an all metal version. It isn't installed yet but it looks bulletproof. Wheel studs; We are running ARP wheel studs. We have a complete extra set in the trailer and will have another set on the spare hubs. Lugs; At this point we have Aluminum/Titanium lug nuts. They worry me. They are very light but they don't seem very strong. Are Aluminum lug nuts legal? I know that in drag racing, aluminum lug nuts are not legal. Does anyone know where to get good, open end, steel lug nuts (preferably black)? Hubs/Knuckles/Disks; Dumb question. We have the SVT brake kit (M-2300-ZX3). Are all of these components stock SVT parts (300mm front disks etc)? Thanks again for your input, Mark |

I just run OEM style lug nuts that you can get at NAPA. They come with that almost gold finish.

I imagine it depends on how much Ti is in them. Pure Al melts at 660 degrees C. Ti is almost indestructible. It doesn't react with hardly anything and it's melting point is very high >2000 C. Why don't you think they're very strong? Are you seeing shavings when you take them off? It could be from the lug studs and not necessarily from the nuts. I use the ARP studs and OEM type lugs. Nothing fancy.

Yeah, they carry them in Food-4-Less Bags
![]() Actually, the Lapp family has a very nice enclosed trailer. Plastic bins make for nice spares storage.

yep we have them hidden away in whatever nook or cranny we can find in the trailor.
we actually had to replace an axle at this last event. Im glad we had it We did find some steel racing lug nuts too, they work MUCH better than those eBay aluminum nuts
