Here are a few pictures from the weekend. I also have pics of the Mustang that Leo had with him. Let me know if you want to see it and I'll post some pics of it.

Great pictures. It looks like a lot of fun racing with all of those Focus's. I've never been there but Grattan looks like a great track. We have very little (if any) grass at the tracks in SoCal.
Please do post some pictures of the Mustang. |

Here are a few of the Mustang.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As Leo put it...Here's what happens when you drive a Mustang like a Focus. He was able to recover although he was a little heavier due to the extra sod that hitched a ride. ![]() Last edited by lepak91 : 06-09-2008 at 08:10 PM. |

ooops Leo determined one can not keep the throttle down over "the jump"!
Leo's Mustang is sweet and he is quick! Notice the starting formation. Leo, in an AI, running AIX due to tires only, is second fastest to over 600 hp, his about 300. AI look out. Dave, these pictures are AWESOME. Thanks a ton.

Not to be a stickler... but the 69 car is in violation of the rules... not running the required logos/decals.

Acutally, its missing the requisite Toyo and Focaljet stickers.... totally missed your car.
No cup points for either of you!

Actually, according to the official SF web site, both TOYO and FJ are listed under "Contingency Sponsors", not as required decals. The only required decals per the rule book are the number boards and window banner.
Not that I don't plan to put stickers on, we just didn't have enough as we have 4 cars to sticker. They'll all be on by Mid Ohio. Guess that means I still get my points then.

Well....if you want to get really technical, read it like a racer does.
Spec Focus Rule 22.2: Additional sponsor decals may also be required by the series. Please refer to the official website for the current list of additional decals and for instructions on purchasing official Spec Focus decals. Notice where it says "Please refer to the official website"? Last time I checked the official SF website was http://specfocus.drivenasa.com/, not FJ. According to the "official website" and not posts on FJ, Toyo and FJ stickers are listed under Contingency Sponsors. If it is a required decal, it should not be under the contingency section, which it is per your quote, it should be with the other "required decals" in the rule set. Needless to say we can swing for the fence all day long, but theres many ways to read the rules. And as stated, I have every intention to put the stickers on the car, just ran out.

Yes we do require Toyo and FJ stickers on our cars as listed in the forum under required decals. We do use this forum for Technical Bulletins and might not always be listed on the main website. I guess Technically Toyo is a Contingency and could be seen as optional. The Focaljet decal are different, they will need to be on the car.
There is no Contingency from FJ (as of right now) but we are allowed to use this forum, in return we must have FJ decals on the car. But like what happen to Ryan in his first event we just told him next time he needs to get FJ decals. Unlike a lot of our Contingency, we do not have FJ decals at every NASA Trailer. So, we normally allow them to run the first event without any penalties. This isn't any different then other series that (like PT and Etc) that run their first event without the required decals. Let's move on. It was the first event for the car. I will say that Craig would not be allow for any Toyo points for this event.

Dave, Great photos as always!
To add to the pics I uploaded a few laps of video on youtube to show Grattan from our views. I must say in advance this DVD recorder/video uploading is all new to me so I gave it my best shot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8smvsz78gQ

What I’ll do to make it less confusion on what decals should be on the car is to make a Decal Diagram, similar to what other series do like Grand-Am and etc.
http://208.112.96.124/assets/decalsKONI08.pdf I talked to Leo about doing this months ago, but I totally forgot about it. It will be posted on the SF website.

It is, its got carbon everything, something very similar to a nascar engine. I think its worth something like 150k or something absurd like that. Funny thing is that it doesn't win every AIX event it enters even with all of that Leo out there proving Driver>Car

great pictures! I really missed not going this year. I didn't see the 65 Mustang AIX car with the SLA suspension, 3-link rear, and carbon body panels. That car is pure artwork! I can never remember Paul's last name who races that car. It was there last year and was very fast. Great turnout of Spec Foci, and I am happy to see car #67 back on the track again after last years incident with the Neon.

I think the guy wanted to hide some where after he looked under the hood of our AI car and saw he got smoked by a production motor with a cold air kit. To make the guy feel a little better we told him that it did have cams and headers.
