Smile Starting SF Build

Well I finally have begun building another SF car out of the Capaldi Racing camp. I spent the first weekend gutting the interior and getting some misc odds and ends put together and making a parts list, I have to thank Leo once again for the use of the shop!

Now I just have to max out the credit cards with the rest of the parts I need and get the rest put together. I'll keep the pics updated as I get more accomplished.

I see you didn't have the door bars go through the b-pillar like the red car.

But, the cage looks great.

Long story short, Leo and crew had built this car for a customer to run in SCCA SSC. The cage was done by a company in PA I believe, not the same builder we use up here thus the differences. I'll have to see if I can digg up a name for you guys. The guy is going a different direction with his racing efforts this season so I picked up the car to run SF with.

So, I need to add all the SF legal goodies and a master switch and I should be good to go!

It wasn't Domination Chassis in Pittsburgh was it?

That's a sweet Window Banner, too bad that is the spec window banner.

This is going to be the mystery car this season. Where did Craig hide the NOx.

Be like an easter egg hunt.

With looking at that seat, I was actually thinking of getting the Sparco Circuit Pro seat. Whats the differences between the two? The pro says it's Hans campatible. But being that you guys have experience with the non-pro version how does it fit with the Hans device on?

Also, with that type of seat do you still need side nets?

I believe the only differences are the "Pro" is a little larger and a bit lighter. I actually have only used a HANS once at nationals and that was in a different seat, my HANS should be here next week so when I get it I'll take a seat and see if theres any issues to speak of.

Just an FYI I'm about 205-210lbs and 5'10, the seat fits pretty well for my size, its a little snugg around the thighs but by no means uncomfortable.

If you buy a seat with the side head bolsters you do not need to run the right side net.

Yeah I'm just trying to figure out what seat to get. Ideally I'd like to sit in the seat before I buy it but I don't have a place with a selection of seats on hand.

I've read the circuit pro is larger than the circuit but also the circuit pro is Hans compatible. Nowhere does it say the circuit is Hans compatible. Granted Hans Compatible only means a deeper back and higher holes. MMM

Thanks for the input. Will eagerly wait for your response on the seat fitment with the Hans device on.

Me being 5'8 about 165-170 it sounds like the circuit is the way to go. Thanks

Safe racer has the description "HANS Compatible".

OK then, that answers that. Other websites I have been to don't say the regular circuit is "Hans compatible".

Good to know though cause the regular one is cheaper. Thanks

Any way one of us shleps can get our hands on one of those Ford Racing done up seats.

I *think* that the main difference for the sparco "HANS" compatible seats is that they moved the guide holes 3/4 of and inch or so higher up the back of the seat - giving more clearance for the extra "height" of the HANS.

If you're not tall, it shouldn't (to my knowledge) make a difference.

Just an FYI - the Circuit Pro is unusable for taller drivers. I bought one from SafeRacer and couldn't sit all the way back in it due to shoulder interference. My co-driver, who is only 6'1", couldn't sit in it either. You've gotta be closer to Felipe Massa than Craig T. Nelson.

We ended up buying a LaJoie Daytona Prototype seat.
