Default Question form the lazy.

Are aftermarket headlights (Hella's) legal for Spec Focus?

Being too lazy (actually I need to get up in 3 hours to get ready for my return flight) to look it up, and I want to ask before I forget.

The rules do not specifically require OEM headlights.

Just cause I'm building the car, doesn't mean I will ever actually race it.

Ok, so I'm just a long ways off from racing it. I don't have any wheel to wheel experience and I am a long way from NASA events I believe.

No, are somewhere close. NASA is at Elk Heart Lake the first part of August.

Close is defined by 3-4 hours for track stuff. 6 hours is reasonable.

You better get to the NASA HPDE's there and at Autobahn etc.

We need SF guys and cars.

But if I lived somewher elike Chicago there would be more events at a reasonable distance.

There an easy link to figure out the whole HPDE thing? Safety requirements?

I would like to use my soon to be "beater" (maybe daily driver would be a better term) for HPDE if at all possible, since it has a bit more power than a half prepared SF would (paying a few bills before I buy the head, IM, and throttle body).

Trouble is there is no "reasonable" in the racing/track day stuff.
It is a money pit, but the most fun money pit one can have.

we are talking distance, not cost

atleast I don't live in the middle of Montana or anything. Any chances of NASA events next year at BIR since the will have a course that is supposed to be better for it?

You are better off learning with less power, so when you get more power, you know how to use it better.

Very true, its a lot harder to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car fast. You can't cover up your mistakes so much when there isn't a bunch of HP there to rocket you down a straight.

I drive a focus that probably has 120whp on a good day and on street tires, and there is no lack of fun to be had that I can promise you Come down for the july mid ohio event and run with us
