Wow this is coming up soon. Taking the car in for nascar bars on the passenger side today. Still need to hookup the excitor wire to the kill switch and replace the 7 year old brake lines.

Leo - you have a big compliment on your cage welder from Matt. I didn't know this but he's a crew chief for the automaticracing team and i've resigned myself to selling all my tools and letting Matt finish the car.

The cage is a big part of driver safty and strength of the car just ask Lowell. Just let us know if we can help with anything want to make sure you show Craig the fast way around MO in April

I'm planning on participating in my first HPDE session the weekend of 4/10 - 4/12 and would really enjoy meeting the Spec Focus drivers.

I will be driving a black 2000 ZX3 I purchased late last summer. According to the log books, it appears that the car was campaigned in SCCA's SSC class as well as a brief stint in Spec Focus.

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

I bet you bought that car from member dhardison here.

If you have never been on track before I HIGHLY suggest that you buy a set of sticky street tires for the car. R comps will not help your driving when you are starting off because you won't be able to get anywhere near the limit of them. Because of this you will not learn from the mistakes you make because the tires will cover them up. Not to mention R comps are expensive and fast wearing so its silly to run them until you can take the car to the limit of adhesion.

Sleeperlove, you're right. The ZX3 was Dan's. Dan was very fair, helpful and accomodating when I bought the car from him - a real credit to the amateur racing community. And thank you for your suggestions regarding tires. I had BFG Traction TA's mounted on the stock 15" wheels - hopeful that those should do the trick.

Dan, nice to see your post. April will be the first time I get the car on the track but so far so good around town. And I am confident that it will serve me well for HPDE and beyond. Thanks again for the great deal and all your help. Will you be at Mid-Ohio that weekend?

Todd,

You'll have loads of fun in that Focus at Mid-O. Once you get comfortable in the car on track, pick up the pace and try some trailbraking techniques. It really use to respond well to trailbraking.

I'm not sure if my Focus will be ready by then, but I plan on attending regardless. My first SCCA race isn't until early May, so I definitely need to get the winter upgrades completed by then. I've been having some back problems as of recent, so it's been tough going working on the car. It's a biatch getting old.....

Well i will be volunteering... I am a bit short on funds this year... by volunteering I will almost get a full event weekend out of it if I take a couple of buddies that are willing to transfer their work to my Log book!!

I just had back surgery 2 weeks ago so the doc says I can't go. I beleive Lowell is attending and running in TT with his SVT.
