Smile Welcome back to me...

welcoming myself back to Focaljet here... It's been a few years since I've been regularly on the forum (divorce, bankruptcy, children, etc.).

Now, I'm deciding (I think) against buying a new car later this year and beginning to build (re-build) my focus again for racing.

I was in SCCA for all of one solo race (won it) then the car went into service as a commuter car... Apex springs broke, stainless brake lines rusted (brakes went out on road), LCA snapped due to extra stresses and poor design after I returned to stock springs/dampers w/ Eibach 25mm antiroll, interior a mess, a few dings/dents on outside...

Anyway... looking for suggestions for planned slow build (over next year) in order to prepare for Spec Focus use sometime in future (and commuting use until then).

Some things will have to be tradeoffs (buy something that'll do for now that's easy to replace when/if I actually get to the track)... but some things it seems to make sense to do for track even if it makes daily driving difficult.

One thing I'm thinking of that's purely for me is cleaning up the exterior (it's a 2000 sedan) with a sedan RS kit ... anyone seen some pic's of these (not the widebody, simply the RS kit).

Then? Ideas anyone?

Since it's for SPEC... I'll stick to approved parts.

Suspension I'm thinking first, as it's in sad shape right now.

New urethane all around, new springs/dampers, new camber kit, probably new motor mount (as old urethane one I think is worn out).

Order of build?

Tips/ suggestions?

I currently have a lightened flywheel (which I need to swap back to stock)... and a ceramic clutch which has become a problem after commuter driving for a few years... need to go back to something closer to stock maybe with increased clamping?

Have 4.06 gear... adjustable cam gears, flex pipe is rusting out, stock header, stock cat, Focus Sport intake

Have several sets of rims... only one set of 17's the rest 15's (which I guess I'll eventually have to get rid of when/if I do the brake upgrade and switch to approved rims).

Anyway... just looking for ideas.

Thanks.
