AWESOME... but are there ANY pics of the invader hood on the Focus? I love the design, I just am unsure of how it's going to look on a smaller hood like the focus!

We agree about the "intercooler effect air kits." They are not one of their better products which is why we don't stock them but their hoods are actually really good quality. We hope to have pics up very soon including of one installed on my Focus.

No way are they going to make the EVO hood for the Focus. That is a mitsu only part And if they ever do decide to branch out, it's going to be to the JDM market first.
G... well you can count on me getting my VIS hood from you, as soon as my wife lets me |

...and ready to ship!
Pricing on VIS OEM carbon fiber hoods is $429.99 plus shipping. Pricing on new "Invader" style carbon fiber hoods is $499.99 plus shipping. Pics and more information will be available soon at www.modernperformance.com. For pics of "Invader" style hoods on other vehicles, feel free to visit www.visracing.com. The "Invader" style hood for the Focus is very similar to the APC style hood but looks much better. Laterz! Gerardo Garcia III [ 10-28-2002, 03:11 PM: Message edited by: G ] |

What grade of CF is on this hood? Do you know anything about the venting properties of this hood? it rezembles an APC CF hood the way the vent is oriented.
Thanks |

The vent is functional, but only to allow hot air to escape the engine bay. The one problem I see is where the vent is. I can't tell where it will dump rain water. Most hood mfg's try to make the hood to dump water in an air that will not adversly effect any of the engines component, but it looks like this hood might be dumping water right on top of the header, which could cause cracking due to the rapid "hot" to "cold" change.

Are you sure it's functional? It looks pretty solid in the underside pic.

Well the other Vis invaders I've seen were functional but these were on hondas, so I have no reason to believe this one isn't. But I could be wrong. I think it is, if you look at the underside, you can tell that the vent would be at such an angle to where you can't see the mesh.
Plus, would you want to create a hood that would act as a holding bin for rain water? I can't imagine that a CF hood would make a very good pool bottom |

We will have pics shortly of this hood installed on a Focus.
We are not positive on the exact "grade" of the carbon fiber, but VIS Racing does offer some really nice quality carbon fiber hoods. We believe this to be a mid to high grade carbon fiber hood. The vent is open on the underside. I wouldn't consider it functional as a ram air set-up, but the vent does help extract some heat. As with the APC hood, the vent opening looks like it will sit behind the upper front grill of the Focus so water would run out right out the front. As mentioned earlier, Modern Performance will have some better pictures of the hood including it installed on a Focus. Look out for those pics soon! Laterz! Gerardo Garcia III |
